Butterflies fluttered all around my stomach. I stood in front of the mirror, questioning if I look OK. I would be biting my lip, but that would cause my lipstick to go on my teeth. I curled my hair - which was the worst thing ever, since I kept worrying I would burn it off. I put on some makeup; concealer, mascara, an eyebrow filler and dark purple lipstick - as well as a white peplum shirt with jeans. To go with my outfit, I put on my white converse. All of a sudden, I was frozen on the spot where I have been standing for the past four minutes. What would Luke think of my outfit? He would probably just think it's OK since he's my best friend and best friends shouldn't try to make their best friend feel bad. Well, if getting ready to see Luke didn't confuse me enough. I nearly passed out when I heard the doorbell. He was here. "Riley, Lucas is here!" My mom shouted. I came down, nearly falling down the stairs with pure excitement. I glared at Luke as he tried to keep a straight face. But then his jaw dropped slowly as he took in my appearance. Was it for a good reason? I really hope so. I smiled awkwardly at him, and the corners of his mouth twitched up in a smile. He looked up and down. Oh. My. God. My best friend was checking me out. I cleared my throat and laughed. He looked at me and chuckled nervously. "I t-thought I saw a b-bug on you." He told me. I smiled. Who would have thought something like this would happen? ** It was now 12 A.M. and because of really terrible traffic, we arrived an hour late. "So, what do you want to do?" He asked me. I looked around until I saw a really awesome game. Probably the best, not to mention easiest, game in this entire fare. If you give the person at the stall enough money, you'll get a corn-dog as a prize. Yup, I was talking about the corn-dog stand. Luke must've saw me eyeing the stand as he started chuckling. "Seriously? The corn-dog stand? I could've just took you to the store if you wanted to come for that." Luke told me. I looked at him to realize he was wearing a smirk - meaning he's only joking around. Or at least I hoped he was. "No! Corn-dogs from the store are so cheap. Plus, I came here to hang out with you, too." I looked at him as he looked away before glancing back at me. "Of course." ** We were walking passed the candyfloss stall with pink clouds in our hands, when I saw a giant pink teddy bear with a sign saying 'dreamer'. I frowned. The bear immediately attracted my attention, in a mere three seconds of looking at it, and it'll take another three seconds to walk away from it. Sigh. If only I had a good aim so that I could win that bear. But I can barley throw a scrunched up piece of paper in the bin when I'm a few feet away. I doubt I can win that. "Hey, I'm just going to the bathroom for a second. Meet me by the photo booth, OK?" Luke informed me. I nodded, starting to find my way to the photo booth. I looked back over my shoulder, looking at the teddy bear for the last time. I sighed walking away. It's silly actually. Feeling upset over not getting a stuffed bear. But you really want it. It reminds you of your childhood. Oh, shut it, me. I got to the booth, leaning again one of them. I carried on eating my candyfloss, waiting for Luke to meet up with me. It must've been ten minutes until Luke finally came. "Sorry. I found Adam and Miles so I talked to them for a bit." Luke explained. I nodded. Then I saw Luke feeling the outside of his denim pockets. Then he frowned. "Damn, I spent all my money on the last stand." He mumbled. The last stand. Luke bought both of us candyfloss. Even if I insisted I should get it with my own money, he declined and said he would pay. "I'll pay." I told him. He gave me an 'are-you-sure?' look. I nodded before getting out some change and cupping it into my hands. When one of the booths were free, Luke and I entered it. I sat down near the wall, and Luke sat down near the blue curtain. I put in the money and the countdown happened. Then a flash flickered, making four photos all together with mine and Luke's silly faces. Once we got out I took the photo and tore it in the middle so that we both had two pictures. Luke's phone went off as soon as we started walking away from the photo booth. He checked it before meeting my eyes. "It's my mom. She wants me home." Luke told me. "Oh, OK." Was all I could say. I wasn't exactly going to drop onto my knees asking why dear God would take him away, then begging him to stay. Even though I was debating in begging his mom. Kidding. Not really. Once we got to the car park, I checked my phone, realizing it was five. How time flies by. "Well, see you." I said. "Yeah." Luke looked at me and winked. I winked back, cursing myself for doing so. He chuckled before walking away. I watched as he reversed out of the parking lot then honked his horn, signalling a 'bye'. I smiled. I looked around, realizing the sun was setting. Shortly after, I realized two more things: One - I had a lot of fun with this out-of-the-blue fare. And two - Luke had been my ride here, so now I had to walk home.
