Be my mate

Ravyn's POV "Now, off you go," he said, kicking the head guard, the other dragging him as they walked away from the woods. "Why didn't you kill them?" I asked when he stood before me, offering me his arms for support. "Because I needed them to send a message to—" "To your stepmother," I completed. "Yes," "And when you finally get back, what did you want to do? Kill your stepmother and stepsister?" "No, death would be a very fast escape to what they've done to me, too fast, I need them to go through every single thing I went through, I need them to be humiliated the same way that I was," I muttered, taking a step with him. "And your father?" He asked. "I don't know, he's in support of everything they do to me, but I won't kill him, he'll dig his own grave, the same way he dug mine," I swore. "Be my mate, let's become a team and—" "No," I refuted almost immediately. "Why?" He asked, searching my face for answers. "Because —" "Kali was the one who rejected you, I wasn't, we're the only two wolves who share the same predicament of bad families," he said, settling me down on a wooden plank. "We don't have to, I understand where you're coming from, and I'd appreciate the decision you make for yourself," He said and stood up from beside me. "Wait," "Ravyn, you don't have to—" "It's true, we're the only two wolves who understand each other, if any wolves accept me as their mate, it wouldn't be because they solely wanted me, it'd be because I have a silver wolf," "So, mark me, I'll be your mate, I'll be your anchor, help you get your revenge while you get mine," I said, walking after him. "I'll give you time to think about it," He said, but I grabbed his arms. "No, I don't need more time to think about it, I'm sure of what I want, and I want you to be my mate," I said, holding onto his arms tighter. He went still. Not stiff. Not angry. Just… very still, like the world had stopped giving him instructions and he didn’t trust himself to move without breaking something. My fingers tightened around his arms before I realized I was doing it. He was warm. Solid. Real. Not some idea I’d invented in desperation. “You don’t understand what you’re asking,” Rowan said quietly. “I do,” I replied. My voice shook, but I didn’t pull away. “I’m not asking for love. I’m not asking for protection. I’m asking for a partnership.” His jaw flexed. “That’s worse. He looked down at my hands on his arms, then back at my face. “If I mark you, Ravyn, the pack will never leave you alone. Not the elders. Not the witches. Not Kali. You won’t be a rejected nobody anymore. You’ll be a threat.” “I already am,” I said. “They tried to kill me tonight, remember?” Silence stretched between us. The kind that pressed in on your ears. “You’ll be tied to me,” he said. “To my instability, to my mess.” I lifted my chin. “I grew up in a mess. At least this one is honest.” Something in his eyes cracked then. Just a little. Like a wall that had been standing too long finally admitting it was tired. “You’re not doing this because you want me,” he said. “No,” I admitted. “I’m doing this because I don’t want to be powerless ever again.” My wolf stirred at that, warm and approving, like she’d been waiting for me to say it out loud. Rowan exhaled slowly, dragging a hand down his face. “If I lose control—” “I’ll stop you,” I said without thinking. His gaze snapped back to mine. “You don’t know that.” “I do,” I said. “You said it yourself. When you bit me, the noise stopped.” He swallowed. “I don’t want you to choose this out of fear,” he said. “I’m not afraid,” I said softly. “I’m angry. There’s a difference, I want revenge, so do you, I could have lived off wolfless and enduring the criticism, but they broke everything when they decided to kill me," He studied me for a long moment, like he was memorizing my face. Like he was trying to decide if I was real or just another thing the moon was using to mess with him. Then he nodded once. “Alright,” he said. My heart stuttered. “Alright?” “We do this on your terms,” he continued. “No ceremony, no witnesses, just you and I," Relief and nerves crashed into me at the same time. “Fine.” “And if at any point you want out—” “I won’t,” I cut in. His lips twitched. “You’re stubborn.” “I’ve been told.” He stepped closer. The space between us closed until I could feel his breath against my skin, smell that sharp, wild scent again. My wolf surged forward, eager and unashamed. “Last chance,” he murmured. “This changes everything.” I looked up at him, at the monster they’d locked away, at the Alpha they feared, at the only person who hadn’t looked at me like I was broken tonight. “Good,” I said. “Everything needs changing.” His hand came up, cupping the back of my neck. Not rough. Not gentle either. Intentional. When his teeth pierced my skin, it hurt. Not screaming pain. Something deeper. Something that burned and settled and rooted itself inside my chest. I gasped, fingers clutching his shirt as heat poured through me, not wild this time, not chaotic. Steady. Grounding. Rowan groaned low in his throat, his body shuddering like he was fighting not to lose himself. Then it was done. He pulled back slowly, forehead resting against mine, breathing hard. The bond snapped into place with a quiet finality that made my knees weak. I was his mate. "Hello, dearest mate," He said, pulling me into a small hug. A huge sigh of relief escaped my lips. "Shall we?" He asked, lifting me from the floor. "Where are we going to?" I asked. "Bloodshade, I need to show them that I've a mate now, my Luna," He teased. "I'm sure the guards would have reached by now, and there'll be reporting the news of how they couldn't kill me," He said. ..................... The next day Rowan walked through Bloodshade gates, pulling the gaze of everyone who saw. "Did you see that? The wolfless daughter if elder Velkyn, with Alpha—" "I think I can walk now Rowan," I whispered into his ears. "No, not yet, I need to show to everyone of them, that I've a mate now, my wife," "Okay," I mumbled while he carried me straight into the pack house. "W-what did you say you saw, he cannot be normal!" The sound of his stepmom screaming reached me as Rowan carried me into the pack house. "It's not a lie," Rowan growled, putting me softly on my feet. "Y-you, you should be dead, what are you doing here!" She yelled, shock racking through her bones. Kali and my sister Kyra marched out as well, her eyes bulging in terror at the sight of me. "What? You were expecting my corpse weren't you?" I asked, stepping closer until I stood before her. "You're just a wolfless —" My palms cracked against her face before she could register what was going on. "Wolfless? Was that your conviction when you sent those rogues to kill me?" I asked, staring at Kyra's face. "I-I don't know what you're talking about," She denied. "Of course, you don't," I replied. "But I want you to know that, including you," I said turning to Kali. "I'll make sure every breath I take from now on is targeted at making your life difficult," "How?" Kali asked mockingly. "You think that because you've a wolf that can go feral anytime behind you, you've the power to make us pay?" He growled. "No, he's not just any wolf, he's my mate," Everyone gasped at the revelation. And I turned away, leaving some space before shifting, watching as their eyes bulged in shock, surprise, fear. "That's exactly how I plan to make you pay,”
