Chapter 2

Anastasia landed in New York City and went straight to her hotel. After she checked in, she set up her equipment. Liz had already sent a team before her arrival to bug the peace conference building with cameras and sensors. When she turned on her monitors, she was able to see the different rooms and areas. According to intelligence reports gathered by their agents, the Prime Minister would excuse himself during the conference and go to the Penthouse Room of the building where he would meet with the terrorists. Once the meeting was over, he would return to the conference and continue as normal. Anastasia’s job was to make sure the meeting between the Prime Minister and the terrorists never happened. She studied all the entrances and hallways. When she had them all memorized, she went to the building for the peace conference dressed as a reporter. She was allowed access into the news coverage room where all the world leaders were assembled to answer questions for the press. A reporter in the audience asked the Prime Minister, “Sir, is true that you allowed for a missile to be shot off the coast into the Pacific Ocean?” “Of course not, please check your sources before you make these baseless accusations,” the Prime Minister retorted angrily. Anastasia studied the Prime Minister. Her instincts told her that he was still human. She then, used her psychic ability to listen in on his thoughts. As she suspected, she heard a demonic voice telling him what to do, “Remember, be at the Penthouse at exactly 5pm sharp. Give the code to my associate Jaleel. Now, what did I just tell you?” “Be at the Penthouse exactly at 5pm, Master. I will give the code to Jaleel,” the Prime Minister answered the voice in his head. “Good, you are a very good pupil. Soon, you will have unlimited power just as you have always wanted,” the voice promised. The Prime Minister smiled with satisfaction in response. Anastasia tuned out in disgust and thought to herself. So, that was the bribe! Unlimited power for secret codes, most likely to weapons of mass destruction. Does the Prime Minister not know that the demons will promise anything to get what they want, but never deliver on their empty promises? The press conference was drawing to an end, and Anastasia left quietly out the back doors. She left to take a look at the hallway and the penthouse. However, the moment Anastasia left the public areas; she was stopped by security guards and no longer permitted to go further. She flashed the security guards her megawatt smile and agreed with them not go any further. Anastasia then, went into the kitchen and borrowed a server’s outfit. She watched the other servers carry trays out to different rooms and guests. Anastasia saw some empty trays, and she carried those out. She used the backstairs to get to an empty hallway. Once, Anastasia deemed that the hallway was safe; she used the elevator to get up to the penthouse. Demons patrolled this part of the building. She could sense their auras the moment she got off the elevator. The energy surrounding her was pure evil. Anastasia took a few seconds to ground herself and compose a protective white light around herself. Then, she moved quietly down the hallway. A demon came out of the penthouse room. “Ah, there you are; we are starving! Just put the tray of food outside the door here, and we will carry it in. No need for you to come any further,” the demon ordered her. “Of course, whatever you say,” she answered sweetly. She set the tray down, grabbed the steak knife and neatly sliced the demon’s neck, then caught him as he fell. She entered the room and saw at least ten demons in different s****l positions with ten female humans. She drew out her metal throwing stars and threw it at the demons. It sliced two in the jugulars as they were in the throes of s****l release. The rest threw off their women and came after her with their eyes an unholy red. She blasted them backwards with her psychic energy. Then, she drew out her knives and threw them. She took out two more demons which left six. They recovered from her psychic blast and shot her with one of their own. She blocked it with her energy shield. Then, Anastasia flew at the closest demon to engage him in hand to hand combat. Once, Anastasia had him defenseless, she used him as a shield to prevent attacks from the other demons. She quickly dislocated his shoulder. Anastasia attacked another demon, grabbed his gun, and shot at another demon running towards her. Then, Anastasia broke that demon’s neck. She took aim at another demon and was about to shoot him when she was blasted from behind. The blast sent her flying across the room. The remaining demons were on her in an instant kicking and punching her. “Bring her to me so I can get a closer look at our unwelcome guest,” a chilling voice commanded. The demons stopped beating her and dragged her roughly to her feet. They held her upright and pulled her head back, so she could look at the demon speaking to her. He was tall with silvery, long hair and white alabaster skin. Anastasia could tell that he was a very old and powerful demon by the black aura that surrounded him. The younger, less powerful demons had red auras. The demons holding on to her all had red auras, so she did not fear them. This old one she knew could do some serious damage to her if he chose to. She braced herself for any attack from him. “My, you are powerful for a human. You killed most of my comrades, and they didn’t even see it coming,” the demon spoke to her. He probed her mind, but she blocked him. His eyes narrowed, and he hit her with another psychic blast. Since, the demons were holding her; Anastasia couldn’t go anywhere. She took the blast full on, grunting and gasping in pain. Jaleel smiled evilly seeing her in pain. His lusty, red eyes glowed at her from a paper white face. He walked over and held her chin, so Anastasia could look into his eyes. He started to put her in a trance. “Sir, Jaleel?” a demon servant walked in on the scene and interrupted. Jaleel barely blinked but answered, “Can’t you see I’m busy?” “Yes sir, but the Prime Minister is meeting you in ten minutes. Sir, should I reschedule?” the demon servant asked. Jaleel looked around at his penthouse, and saw the broken furniture and dead bodies of his comrades and replied, “No, show him in. If he wants power, he might as well see how power is taken and given.” "Yes, sir, as you wish,” the demon servant replied leaving. Anastasia was now bleeding both internally and externally from Jaleel"s blast and could barely keep conscious from the pain. She refused to let Jaleel see her so weak, so she glared at him. Then, Anastasia shot him with one of her own psychic blasts, but he was prepared for it and blocked it. Her demon captors were caught unawares by it, and the energy knocked them across the room. That angered Jaleel, so he sent a flying kick to her stomach. She doubled over and took out another knife from her boot. Anastasia then threw it at him, but the pain made her weak and slow. He easily dodged the knife and punched her. Then, he shoved her in to a chair and barked out an order to the other demons, “Tie her up! Then, take her into the other room and have some fun with her. She needs to be broken in first before she can be entranced.” The demons grinned evilly as they anticipated how to torture her. They tied her hands and feet and took the rest of her knives. “Since, she likes using blades so much, maybe, we should cut up her pretty face with her blades,” a fat looking demon suggested. “You fellas mind if I take the first slice off her face?” another demon asked happily. He held the knife to her lips and was about to cut her when a golden light blinded all of them. When she could see again, the demons were dead at her feet. Her hands and feet were no longer tied. She looked for her rescuer, but he was nowhere in sight. A demon’s blood curling scream from the next room sent Anastasia out of her chair to investigate. She limped in to see a golden man holding a golden sword over the demon Jaleel. She recognized the golden sword and the golden man. This was the golden man who had saved her in her dream! For some miraculous reason, he was here in this very room! She watched with fascination as he drove his sword into Jaleel, but not before Jaleel said something that Anastasia was able to pick up. “Archangel, you are too late. His Lordship is coming. He’s been building an army in secret for many years, and we are stronger now than ever. Kill me, but there will be more,” he hissed out venomously and died when Gabriel stabbed him through the heart. Gabriel wiped his sword and sheathed it. He hated demons that preyed upon innocent female humans. He was about to teleport home when a human voice stopped him, “Wait! You were in my dream! You’re real!” Gabriel rarely paid attention to humans. His job was to protect them from evil demons. He dispatched demons with his sword, psychic powers, or his superhuman strength. Once, he was done, he teleported or flew back home to heaven. If the humans ever saw him, he made sure all they saw was golden light. Not once, did he stop to communicate with humans. If he chose to communicate with them, he did so through dreams. However, something in her voice tugged at him in the present moment. Gabriel swung around and looked at her. She was tall for a human female. He could tell she was powerful by her white aura, and the energy she gave off. Her face was bruised and bloodied from the fight with demons, but this was the same woman from the nightmares with Aaron! He noticed after studying her that she was bleeding internally and externally. He sent waves of healing light towards her to heal her. Anastasia could feel her pain disappearing. She could also feel her wounds healing. When she touched her face, it was no longer swelling or tender. Once, Anastasia was fully healed, she walked over to where Gabriel stood. Anastasia asked him curiously, “Who are you? What were you doing in my dream? Why are you here?” Gabriel did not want to stay any longer with this female human being, but something about her presence pulled at him. So, he probed her mind and saw her years of training to help protect other humans. Gabe saw her numerous scrapes with death at the hands of many demons, but somehow, she always managed to survive. He looked deeper and saw her loneliness and the fear which drove her so hard to protect those around her. Gabriel felt a sense of kinship with her and a sense of protectiveness and admiration for her spirit. He cleared his throat to distract him from his feelings and chose to answer her questions instead, “I am Gabriel. I heard your screams that night and entered your dreams to save you.” “Jaleel called you an archangel, is that what are you?” Anastasia asked. He looked uncomfortable before he replied, “Yes, to some I am known as Archangel Gabriel. However, to my brothers, I am simply Gabriel or Gabe.” “So, you’re an angel of the highest order. You had wings in my dream. Where are your wings now?” Anastasia inquired. Gabriel wanted to use his powers to put her to sleep and erase her mind. He had stayed too long with this human. Gabe knew his brothers would not be happy. They had strict rules regarding their interactions with humans, but as he at stared her and saw her innocence and open curiosity staring back from her beautiful blue eyes, his resolve weakened. Gabe decided to stay with her a little longer. “I flew into your dream. I teleported here instead of flying. I can come and go as I please. I am not hindered in my transportation as you are,” he explained. She grinned at him and his heart melted. Literally melted at the sight of that bright smile and how it lit up her whole face. “Well, if it’s not too much trouble, would you mind teleporting with me and returning me to my hotel room?” Anastasia asked. “Of course,” Gabriel replied and looked at her waiting for her to introduce herself. “I am Anastasia. Just plain old Anastasia. No cool title like Archangel such as yours,” she introduced herself. He smiled at her and her heart stopped. He really was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. Even in her dream, she had thought he was drop dead gorgeous. “You blasted Aaron as well as these demons. Nothing about you is plain Anastasia,” he told her. Then, he moved to hold her, so he can teleport her. She had never felt so safe and protected as she was when she was enveloped in his embrace. She could feel his biceps and his hard, muscular chest as she held onto him. In a few seconds, her hotel room materialized. He was the first to break contact by letting her go and stepping back. They continued to gaze at each other. She was drowning in his sea blue eyes and electricity sparked between them. She could tell he felt it too. His eyes grew darker and his nostrils flared as if he had trouble breathing. Then, her cell phone rang. Anastasia looked at it and saw it was her best friend and answered, “Hey Liz.” “How’d everything go, Girlfriend?” Liz asked. “Fine, just fine,” Anastasia replied. “Are you hurt badly?” Liz inquired anxiously. “No, I’m fine,” Anastasia answered. “Ok, let me know if I need to send in a medical team or anything,” Liz stated. “Everything’s fine, thanks hun, but I gotta go,” Anastasia replied and hung up. She turned back to Gabriel. Anastasia was about to ask him more questions, when he spoke to her instead, “Well, you’re safe now, so I really must go,” and with that Gabriel teleported out of her room without so much as a goodbye. Anastasia watched him disappear in seconds. Then, she picked up her cell phone and called her best friend, “Hey Liz, I need everything you can find on Archangel Gabriel.”
