“What the hell!” Morris yelled. “You can’t do that!” “I just did,” he said simply. “You know what I just did, Miss Andrews? I found some injured people up there. Injured firefighters. People ready to give their lives to save others. And when I got up there, I had to make a choice: save a man who had his chest crushed. He wasn’t going to make it. His name was Brian. I know that because before she passed out, the other firefighter begged me to save him instead of her. But I didn’t listen to her. I grabbed her and pulled her out of that flaming wreckage and left him to die. I made a choice: I chose to let someone die. “Do you know what that feels like, Miss Andrews?” She felt herself grow cold. She may have been heartless and prone to overriding the guilt that hit her sometime
