Leighton's p.o.v
When I started waking up, I heard this beeping sound that was making my head hurt more. On top of things, my body felt like it was weighed down. When I was able to open my eyes, I noticed I was in the hospital. I don't remember anything except trying to get out of bed. I started looking around the room and I noticed a figure sitting in the chair next to my bed. What surprised me was who it was.
Luca
"Hey. What happened? All I can remember was getting out of bed." I asked him still trying to remember what all happened.
"Hey, from what I was told you passed out on your floor. The doctor says you're dehydrated and your vitals were low, that's why you're on oxygen and have the IV. You also started to develop pneumonia."
"Oh" was all I could say but then a couple of questions popped in my head. "How long have I been here and not to sound rude but what are you doing here?" It was strange that he was here. I mean we know each other but not that well.
"You've been out for about 12 hours now. I was here earlier with your family and Seth. He wanted to be here for your sister when he found out. Hope wanted to stay here but your dad said no. So I decided after dinner I'd come back and stay so you weren't alone. You had your family scared."
I felt my cheeks heat up from him saying he didn't want me to be alone so I mumbled a quick thank you. Although I felt a little down because he was only here so I want alone since Hope couldn't stay.
"Let me go get you a nurse since you're awake." as soon as he left, I looked at the stuff that was hooked up to me. I had an oxygen tube and an IV. I hated the hospital, there wasn't, much I could do in here and I knew I wouldn't be able to get up with these wires.
When Luca walked back in a nurse in her 40's walked in afterward. She had black hair and blue eyes. She looked familiar and I knew why as soon as Luca introduced us.
"Leighton this is my mom, mom this is Leighton, Hope's Sister"
"How are you feeling sweetie?"
"I'm okay, but I ache all over and my head is throbbing"
"Okay let me get you some pain medicine." after she left the room Luca had a frown on his face.
"Why didn't you tell me you were in pain when you woke up? I could have got her sooner."
"Umm... I don't know" I said sheepishly with a small smile on my face. Even though I was in pain I'd rather talk to him than worry about nurses fussing over me, but I wouldn't tell him that.
Luca's mom, who's name was Shelly, came back into the room and gave me the medicine through my IV. She told me I may feel sleepy here soon. Which was true because as soon as the medicine kicked in my eyes felt heavy.
"Go to sleep Leighton I'll be here in the morning when you wake up," Luca whispered.
"Thank you." I managed to mumble and with that, I was out like a light, but not before I felt a kiss on my forehead and a goodnight.
----------------------------------
When I woke up the next morning, true to his word Luca was still there. He was reclined in the chair in my room with his mouth slightly open as you hear him puffing out air. I took the time to observe him. He was definitely good looking. His black hair was messy, an he looked peaceful. Before I got caught looking at him or waking him up from staring, I noticed my laptop sitting on the table. With that in mind, I decided to show Luca the pictures I took of him and Alice at the park when he wakes up.
When I checked the time it was only 8 A.M. I knew these next few days were going to be boring and there wasn't much I could do being hooked up to all these wires. Hopefully, the oxygen will at least come off, and the good thing is my body didn't ache as much and neither did my head.
Snapping out of my thoughts I heard Luca waking up.
"Hey when did you wake up?" his voice was raspy but music to my ears I thought.
"Like 15 minutes ago."
"Oh, okay. Do you hurt? Are you hungry? Do you need a nurse?" he all but rushed out and it made him even cuter, seeing if I'm okay.
I chuckled at his questions "No I don't hurt, I'm really not hungry but I know I need to eat and no, no nurse."
"Let me go get some food, I'll be at least 30 minutes."
I gave a small okay and a thank you to him and he sent me a smile and was out the door. I was left with my thoughts once again. I wondered what it would be like dating Luca. But as reality sets in, I'm reminded I'm too sick to date right now. I'm not even sure if I'll make it and I don't want to put my significant other through all that pain. I know I should keep positive on my treatments but sometimes it's hard to. On top of things, I don't even know if Luca likes me.
The 30 minutes passed and sure enough, Luca walked in with food and drinks.
"I got you sprite and I wasn't sure what you liked, I also got you pancakes and bacon. I guess I should have asked before I left."
"No, it's fine thank you so much."
Luca took a seat and we both began to eat. Well mostly him as I sat and picked at most of my food. We kept a small conversation going getting to know the basics about each other. I also showed him the pictures and he loved them and said he'd give them to his parents.
The day went pretty quick and Luca left after lunch to hang out with his family so I was left alone. No one else came up because they had work to do but I didn't mind I was pretty tired and knew I'd sleep most of the time anyway. After the nurse came in and did her rounds, I got my self comfy propped up my computer to put a movie on and fell asleep thinking about the blue-eyed boy that was here earlier.
