CHAPTER 57
“Wow. Sweet ride.” Ruby smiled as she got into Elliot’s sports car. “You didn’t have to pick me up, you know. Don’t you have to be up crazy early?”
He shrugged, and Ruby wondered how he could be so nice to her and still make it seem like she was the one doing him some big favor.
“I didn’t want you to get lost,” he said.
With as directionally challenged as Ruby was, it was probably a good thing. She’d never have found his place on her own.
And it was nice to have a little bit of extra time together. Just being with Elliot made her feel calmer. More like herself.
How was it that some people could make her feel so anxious and stressed, and others could bring her peace of mind just by being in close proximity?
“Any changes in Jessi’s condition?” he asked.
Ruby shook her head
