There were three ambulance vehicles in front of County Hospital when Ruby pulled up. Until then, she didn’t even know there were that many ambulances in all of Orchard Grove.
She parked in front of the main entrance since the emergency area was blocked.
God, she prayed, please let her be okay.
She told Connie what happened as soon as she got off that phone call. Her employer gave her the rest of the day off even though Grandma Lucy was doing so poorly. It was just as well, or Ruby would have simply quit her job to be here.
It didn’t make sense.
