CHAPTER 38 Another long shift over. Elliot tried to decide if he wanted to pick up his dinner at the hospital cafeteria or eat what he had at home. There was still some hummus left. He’d have to finish that up in the next couple days. And he was low on fruit. Probably needed to pick up some more groceries at the health food store. Soon, but not tonight. He walked downstairs to the cafeteria. “Hi, Mo,” he told the janitor wiping the tables. Mo grinned, showing the gap between his two front teeth. “Hi, Doctor. Did you have a good day?” The thing Elliot had learned about talking to Mo was to have his ears prepared. That man was either silent or screaming. “My day was good,” Elliot answered. “How was yours?” “Miss Lopez says I’m still the best worker she’s ever had.” He smiled proudly.
