His words were assuring and strangely ended all of Chen Feng’s anxieties. She took the papers in her hands and signed in her beautiful writing.

"So when are we getting married?"

Secretary Zhang took the contract and placed the papers cautiously in a file.

"Right now"

"What?", Chen Feng was stupefied.

"I had already booked for a wedding"

Chen Feng heart thumped. Ever since she was young, all she had wished for was a perfect wedding day with Fu Jianguo. After his betrayal, her hopes shattered and she abandoned all her ideas of even getting married. When her family forced that arranged marriage on her, she was even sickened by the word ’marriage’.

So now she couldn’t help but feel her heart swelling with elation.

Then she recalled something and said with a frown.

As Li Luxian eyes landed on that g*n, an astonishment settled deeply in his heart. No one could ever expect that someone as delicate and frail looking as Chen Feng could possibly be in the possession of a deadly weapon like a g*n.

Li Luxian lips curled up. It looked like his wife was far more interesting than he expected her to be.

"Don’t mind it, it is just a toy", Chen Feng said sheepishly hurriedly trying to pick up the g*n and wipe it out from the face of the earth. It was foolish of her-so foolish of her. She definitely didn’t want Mr. Li to find out why she had a g*n.

As she bent to grab it, Li Luxian hands reached out swiftly and picked it up before her fingers could touch the hard black metal,

"Toy?", his voice was manifested profound amus.e.m.e.nt as he examined the g*n. Chen Feng’s heart leaped as she could see him examining the g*n. A man like him should be familiar with the g*n so there was no way she could fool him.

"If I remember correctly, it is a Sig Sauer P . Isn’t it?", he said, a silly smile still hanging on his face.

Chen Feng didn’t know what to say now that her lie was caught openly.

She realized that he was not only familiar with guns, he also had good knowledge about them. Recognizing the g*n model and name in just one glance? Did this man possess some sort of divine gift to be able to have such a degree of expertise in every field?

Chen Feng snatched away her g*n rudely and somewhat insolently from Mr. Li before he could unfold more of her secrets.

"Don’t mind it. I just kept it for protection", she said in a cold icy tone intending to make him give up his ideas of further interrogating her. She opened her cupboard and placed the g*n there, all the time praying that Mr. Li wouldn’t ask further questions about it.

"Protection?", Li Luxian voice held a hint of curiosity, "From who?"

Li Luxian could detect strong resentment and hostility flashing across her eyes and they darkened. She stopped momentarily while placing the g*n in the cupboard. Her eyes looked absent and her mind seemed like it was somewhere else as she stared blankly in space. Then she shook her head, getting rid of those emotions in her eyes.

"No one.", she shook her head. She wasn’t willing to give any more information.

"Weren’t we going to register marriage?", she said intending to change the topic.

Li Luxian gave his secretary a look. Being with his boss for the last ten years, Zhang Xin quickly understood what his Boss wanted from just a mere glance.

"Let’s go", as Li Luxian agreed and didn’t ask any other question Chen Feng visibly sighed in relief as her shoulders relaxed.

Walking out of her apartment, Chen Feng could sense the looks she was getting in her direction from the aunties of neighboring apartments. That man was sure an eye-candy. Especially with his dress and elegant gait, one couldn’t help but stop in his track to give him a second glance. In a poor region where she had rented an apartment, they didn’t get a person as refreshing and youthful as Li Luxian, visiting every day.

Those were all the aunties who used to treat Chen Feng coldly because of her bad financial status and lack of respectful attitude. But soon they were going to regret it.

Chen Feng couldn’t believe it that how could she fail to recognize a person like him who conspicuously stood out tall due to his looks and temperament. How could she mistake someone like him for a bumpkin?

Just as they stepped out of the building, Chen Feng’s eyes landed on a big black Mercedes standing in its glory in the street. A few bystanders taking their time to admire it but no one dared to near it as if scared of its magnificence.

At that moment, Li Luxian felt like something was wrong. His eyes unconsciously scanned around the area. He stopped abruptly. His eyes caught an ephemeral reflection of a person trying to escape unnoticed. But that person’s evasive movements couldn’t elude Li Luxian perceptive eyes. At a distance, Li Luxian could also discern a familiar retreating car.

"Is it him?", Li Luxian asked Zhang Xin knowing that his secretary who was on high alert all the time, would have seen that suspicious movement for sure.

Zhang Xin had equally tense expressions.

"Yes, Mr. Li"

Li Luxian was quiet for a while deciding what to do. Meanwhile, Chen Feng walked closer to them. Li Luxian looked at her, unsure about how to deal with the situation.

"What happened?", she asked confused finding them stopped near their car with disturbed expressions.

But instead of an answer, she was given a kiss.

She had kissed him last time but that time she was drunk and angry. She didn’t even remember that kiss much. And she had kissed him that time without even having a proper look at his face. But now she was aware of this person’s identity and mindful of his godly features!

Her heart jumped out of her throat as she felt his soft lips on her sensitive lips. Behind her, she could listen to the gasps of the crowd due to that public display of affection. Her face burned; she was unable to retract and utterly paralyzed with shock.

But fortunately, it was only a slight peck and finished before Chen Feng could even think about pushing him off. He leaned in closer to her with his lips inches away from her ears as he whispered quietly.

"Who?", she looked around.

Li Luxian placed his hand on her face and cupped her cheek. He placed his finger on her soft, cherry red lips to quieten her. Chen Feng could feel the warmth of his hand on her cold face in the chilly winter and it was strangely very soothing. She could also hear her heart beating in her ears due to embarrassment.

"My father, he has sent his men to keep an eye on me", Li Luxian whispered. With his every word, his hot breath hit Chen Feng’s neck and made her shudder.

Up to this close to Chen Feng, her sweet intoxicating sweet strawberry scent wafting to his nostrils and made him smile uncontrollably.

"Your father?", Chen Feng whispered after steadying her heart a bit and getting out of her stupor. Her face was a burning red as she avoided the curious glances of onlookers.

"Yes. And now we must act like true lovers so he won’t get suspicious", he whispered, "I told him that we were in a relationship for a few months and had kept it hidden from the world to avoid trouble. I made it clear to him that I intended to marry you after the scandal so he should annul my engagement with Wang Hualing."

Li Luxian pulled away his face from her neck and looked deeply in her eyes, feigning such profound affection in his eyes that even Chen Feng was almost fooled, "He might have gotten suspicious that I was lying to get rid of Wang Huailing so he sent his men to look if we are really in a relationship or not"

To an outsider, who couldn’t listen to those whispers between those two lovebirds, it seemed like they were saying naughty things to each other. Because when Li Luxian was looking at Chen Feng, a tender smile lit his face and his eyes held passionate intensity. Chen Feng’s pale, white face was also burning red.

The kiss with her was not fake for him. Those exhilarating sensations coursing through him were real and deep every time he touched her.
