"No, I don’t think he would do anything serious or hurt you in any way.", he said staring at those plump lips and suppressed an urge to kiss her again. He could only bury down his urges for now because he couldn’t give her an excuse for a second kiss.

"And we are not going to register our marriage today. I’ll inform you what to do next"

Now that Li Guang was watching his every move Li Luxian had to act wisely. It would seem suspicious if Li Luxian got married to Chen Feng right after the scandal. So he decided that it would seem more natural if they waited for a few days before getting married.

He kissed her forehead like a lover would do parting from his partner. Li Luxian knew that his father would be watching it and his actions must be impeccable to fool that old man. When Chen Feng felt his soft lips on her forehead and she had a hard time getting a hold over her wavering heart.

"Wait. You don’t have my contact number"

"I can get whoever’s number I want, Ms. Chen"

Of course, he was the Li Luxian. The famous business tycoon. He could have her number easily.

She saw a retreating figure of Li Luxian as he elegantly entered that car that matched his status and power. The car sped away swiftly. Just a distance created between them, she felt like all that had just happened was a mere dream. Just like a touch of breeze; illusionary and momentary.

That day had been too bizarre and unexpected for her. Chen Feng slightly laughed at her situation. No one expects a random ultra-rich CEO showing up at her door with a marriage proposal. Of course, she was happy. That marriage was going to give her a chance to stand on her feet once again.

Things were going to change.

As she turned around to head to her apartment and think about what had been happening with her life, she was shocked to find a big audience standing and staring at her.

A lot of building aunties were standing on the balcony and gazing at her.

Everyone around her had paused his/her task and was staring at her with shock evident on his/her face.

That moment she realized that the night had not died yet.

- Was he Li Luxian? Li Luxian!

- Was he Li Luxian? Li Luxian!

"Was he Li Luxian? Li Luxian, the heir of Li corporation!", one of the bystanders suddenly shrieked with disbelief lacing his voice.

And the crowd gasped collectively once again. The next moment, they all gaped at her intensely.

Chen Feng knew that water was above her head now and the place was not safe anymore. So she dashed out of that place to the top to her safe haven. Or she tried to because she was stopped by aunties hungry for gossips.

So just as she had taken two steps, a mountain of aunties with flattering smiles blocked her path.

"Chen Feng would you like to have dinner at my place tonight?", an auntie who used to always badmouth her behind her back asked politely

"I would love to but..."

Another auntie grabbed her.

"Forget about her. We all know that her cooking is shitty. Feng daughter you know that your this auntie cooking is famous in the whole society. How about having dinner at my place?"

"Auntie Huang actually I..."

"Chen Feng come with me. I made your favorite Sweet and Sour Pork!", another one cried.

"Chen Feng she is lying. Come with me. I made Coconut Tapioca Pudding today!"

"Stop lying! You made that Pudding yesterday. It is old and unsavory. Come with me. I’ve got a fresh one at my place"

As those gossipy aunties looked at Chen Feng collectively like a hungry lion looking at raw meat, she gulped.

"Dear aunties, I would love to but I already had my dinner"

When those aunties were contemplating what to say next to bait their prey, a girl spoke up.

"Why are you guys sucking up to her? We already know that Mr. Li already has a fiance. So what if he visited her? She is nothing but a kept woman", that girl humphed loudly.

Liu Chao was quite jealous of the fact that that good-for-nothing Chen Feng got Mr. Li’s attention. Li Luxian was her idol. And to see him here, in this poor area, was already something contradictory to expectation. On the top of it to see that Chen Feng, that she always used to look down upon, being kissed by her idol flared flames of envy and resentment in her heart. Those flames didn’t take much to turn into jealousy and hatred.

What was so good about that Chen Feng?

She, Liu Chou, was so many times better than Chen Feng.

"You shut up Liu Chou! Do you know that man? Even being his kept woman is a thousand times better than marrying a commoner!", one of the aunties rebutted.

What that auntie said was right. Being his kept woman already had great prestige. After not being able to counter that, Liu Chou felt infuriated and instead barked at Chen Feng to take out her frustration.

"Do you have any shame? You knew that he had a fiance and you still went on seducing him!"

Chen Feng looked at Liu Chou. Strangely she felt no anger towards her. Maybe because now that she had signed the contract with Li Luxian, their marriage was sealed and bound to happen in the future. And the whole world would know of it sooner or later. So Liu Chou’s words and she herself were harmless to her.

But that didn’t mean that she wouldn’t give Liu Chao a nice retort.

"We all saw that Mr. Li was the one who came to my apartment and not the other way around so how did it be me who seduced him?", Chen Feng lips curled up and her dark brown eyes glinted mischievously as she continued to say, "It’s not like I deliberately went to his place to sleep with him as you did with auntie Huang daughter’s husband"

Liu Chao was speechless once her misdeed of the past was revealed out in open. Not everyone was aware of her that immoral action.

"You-You-You...", she stuttered and didn’t know what to say to refute that.

"She is right. Talking about shamelessness?", an auntie laughed, "You should have it first to teach it to others"

Liu Chao was mortified. Embarrassed, she looked down.

"Shoo Liu Chao! Don’t go on speaking bullshit about others. Don’t you know that Mr. Li’s engagement was annulled this morning?’, an auntie said.

"What?"

That new piece of information took anyone by shock, including Chen Feng.

"The engagement will be considered null fully once the elders of Li and Wang family also call it off. This morning, Mr. Li called off the engagement himself and declared that he already had a girl he loved and intended to marry", as that auntie finished of the statement, she screamed, covered her mouth and looked at Chen Feng.

At this point, everyone in the crowd also stared at her as they slowly processed that auntie’s words.

Could it be Chen Feng?

The girl Mr. Li said he loved and was going to marry?

Chen Feng realized that those aunties that were previously eager to invite her to dinner just for expecting that she was Li Luxian kept women, were now about to go in frenzy any moment realizing that Li Luxian was instead going to marry her.

"It can’t be her!", Liu Chao was the first to say that.

Marry her?

Why would someone like Li Luxian marry an status-less, vulgar wench like Chen Feng?

"Of course it is her!"

"No, it was the girl with whom Mr. Li had a scandal yesterday"

"Could it not be her?"

"Yes, it’s possible. I saw the same dress with Chen Feng as that girl in the scandal had on her"

"I think that’s right. Chen Feng came late last night. She had probably gone to a club. So the girl in the scandal must be her"

"You idiots stop. Just ask Chen Feng herself whether it is her Mr. Li intends to marry or someone else?"

"Hmm. That’s the wise thing to do"

"Chen Feng, tell us truthfully. Is it you whom Mr. Li intends to marry?"

But as their eyes landed on the spot where Chen Feng was previously standing, their eyes found no one but a stray dog wagging its tail.

Chen Feng sighed in relief as she closed the door behind her.

As those aunties were debating over the identity of the future wife of Li Luxian, she had quietly slipped away. Those aunties were dangerous. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they had tied and electrocuted her to make her spill the truth.

Meanwhile, she received a text from a private number.

"Tomorrow I’ll be picking you up for a date at pm. Be ready wife. And our marriage is postponed for a week"

Chen Feng’s lips curled up as she texted back.

"You know Mr. Li? We are not married yet and I’m not your wife"

A reply came quickly.

"Why are you planning to back out now?"

After a second, another message came.

"You have already signed the contract. So don’t think about backing off now."

And Chen Feng knew that she was already in the clutches of that man. She had never thought about backing off. If heavens were throwing a golden opportunity at her, she would not be ungrateful and thick-headed to reject it. Chen Feng could already think about the ugly faces of all those of her family, especially Chen Main, upon hearing the news that she was marrying Li Luxian.

Her lips curved up into an evil smile as she imagined them vomiting bouts after bouts of blood once realizing that the daughter they abandoned was going to become the legal wife of the Li Luxian.

She laughed evilly thinking about the Fu Jianguo reaction to this news. Sure his pride would suffer a nice blow. She almost pitied him.

"Don’t worry. I’ve made my mind and I won’t go back on my word"

Li Luxian replied with a smiling and a winking, kissing emoji.

Chen Feng didn’t know why but her heart fluttered as she looked at that emoji. She smiled and shook her head.
