Chapter 20
After leaving the room with Ainsley and Charlie we rejoined the party which had lost half its members because they were f*****g in relative privacy. We were invited to the general orgy inside the main house, but we declined, claiming exhaustion.
We were exhausted, but it was a good sort of exhaustion. What I really remember about that night was getting one of the best night’s rest I had ever had.
There was a message waiting for me when we got up Sunday morning.
It might have been one of the worst mornings of my life.
“Shane, this is Linda, Melissa’s mother. Could you call us as soon as you can? It’s important. It’s about her.”
Gwen and I listened to the message together.
