Chapter 7

289 Words
The return home passed in tense silence. There was no smile on Mike's face, and I was looking out the window and when we finally entered the city, I sighed deeply. "You don’t want to go home, do you?" - he asked me. I did not know what to say. After I had found  the truth about his marriage, my hopes were dashed. My world collapsed. I fell to the ground from those clouds, in which I was excited and happy for at least a while. I knew that I was facing a period of making important decisions. "I seem to have ruined everything," he said. I didn't answer. "Carolina, go back to your life and try to erase this adventure from your memory." I looked at him with tears in my eyes. “OK. You don't have to say anything more, I realized everything.” – I said quietly. After that, the conversation died down and we didn't say another word. When we arrived in front of Jasmine's house, he tried to kiss me but I turned my head to the other side feeling a lump in my throat and a pain in my chest. I didn't deserve a kiss, I know. I'm just sorry you're leaving forever without a farewell kiss. And I believe that those who break up with a kiss must meet again someday. For a few seconds I tried to focus, because there was chaos in my head. It was no longer calm, simple and relaxed. Eventually, I approached touching his lips and got out of his car. I turned around and took the last look because I knew it was the last picture that would remain in the series of memories about him.
