Chapter 2

Jasmine was a girl who did not have prejudice about anything. She was always in a good mood, making jokes of almost everything. She was short but beautiful young girl who happened to fall in love with every boy he would meet. Once, she met a boy in the lift and she fell in love with him. Her positive attitude toward love was absolutely liberal.  She always teased me about my serious approach toward love. “You should grab all the love chances!“ –she would advise me! “Mike is not the only man in the world“-she would add.  If only I had listened to her advice. We were walking in the city center looking around the shop windows full of New Year’s decorations. People were doing the final preparations for the upcoming holidays. Тhe city was lit and decorated with many Christmas trees. The sound of bells echoed through the crowded streets where children were running  and shouting  as they posed for pictures with the smiling Santa Clauses on the street. We approached a man who was selling New Year's postcards. There were hundreds of them in different colors, different shapes and it was  difficult to chose one, so Jasmine , who was always in a good mood, tried to  bargain with him. We were so amused and careless at that time. Life was good. Life was easy. Аt that moment I wished I was with Mike.   I imagined us as a happy family preparing for the Christmas holidays by buying gifts for our children. That moment Jasmine asked me something and she brought me back to reality. If only she had left me dreaming а little more.    I counted the days until тhe next holiday. The New Year and the Christmas holidays were an ideal occasion for me to visit Mike. I wanted to see him desperately. Moreover, I did not want to tell him. Jasmine and I were making the final preparations before leaving for Serbia. We bought modest gifts for everyone, packed our suitcases, booked our train tickets and waited for the day to leave. At the beginning my parents were worried about my decision to travel in winter. “Travelling by train in this part of the year might be dangerous“ – my dad remarked. He even tried to make me change my mind because of the freezing weather that year. However, nothing could have stopped me. My plans were made and I was happy to see Mike again. “He will be overjoyed”- I thought. “We can spend the holidays together“ – I smiled secretly. At the end, mum and dad gave in. And, a few days later I was in Serbia with Jasmine again.  Jasmine and I arrived two days before the New Year’s Eve. Her small town was a real surprise for me.  I was delighted to see the decorated streets; lights of different colors lit up the town, there were decorated Christmas trees everywhere. The New Year's atmosphere was felt everywhere. Then, I remembered my first visit to that little magical place. Unlike then, I felt much better. I started feeling more comfortable, happier, and more fulfilled. My soul was filled with love, happiness, excitement. I took a deep breath as if I wanted to feel the magical feeling again. The feeling of love that overwhelmed my whole body.
