chapter 20

I woke up in the wee hours of the morning and discovered myself in unfamiliar surroundings. In a simple room that I had never seen before, I was lying in bed, encased in a set of black silk sheets. My vampire eyes were soothed by the room's soft illumination, which was provided by warm ambient lighting. It wasn't like the gaudy fluorescent lights in my own dorm room, which gave me discomfort and made my eyes water. I carefully propelled myself up onto the bed and sat down. My recollections of the events leading up to my passing out were foggy. I can still clearly recall Sarah Turner, Pierre, and Felix, but there was something more that had lingered in my mind. I glanced around the room once more as I ran my fingers through my hair. Is this a hotel room? I had trouble visualizing somebody living here permanently because of the decoration and style, which were so uninspired. There were no indications of any small souvenirs that would have revealed the identity of the resident. I noticed my clothing nicely placed on top of a glossy black table across the room. To my dismay, I discovered that I was lying in bed wearing only my bra and underwear. I had intended to get up and look about, perhaps even identify the person who had put me in this bed. Quickly I whipped the black silk sheet around my body and flushed wondering who had undressed me. The answer soon became apparent when Felix appeared in the doorway wearing nothing more than a pair of dark lounge pants. With my cheeks inflamed I asked, "Who took my clothes off?" Felix's expression stiffened and he said with a hint of sarcasm, "As tempted as I was Jess, Ophelia undressed you." I winced slightly now feeling embarrassed, "Sorry, I just woke up in this place and I couldn't remember how l got here." "So, you instantly thought I must have dragged you back to my lair to have my way with you," Felix replied. "I don't know- l just can't remember" I stammered suddenly feeling very small. "Well Jess," Felix began in an authoritarian tone, "Someone decided not to come to the library when I asked them, and consequently Someone missed out on their meal of blood. So, guess what happened when I caught up with that someone and found them in a state of hysteria in their bedroom last night?" I stared at Felix in stone silence not knowing whether to feel anger or embarrassment. He leaned against the door frame personifying sheer masculine arrogance and looked down on me as if l was a very young child in need of a scolding. "Mia, your body had gone into starvation when I found you. After you had stupidly locked yourself in the bathroom, you passed out- I had to break the damn door to get to you," He told me angrily. "How is that my fault?" I snapped, "You never told me that vampires could faint from hunger- in fact you never tell me anything... I never asked to be a vampire, Felix." Felix rolled his eyes as if he heard that complaint a million times before and said nothing. He instead watched me with a dark brooding intensity that made me feel very uncomfortable. I hated feeling like I was in trouble for something that I had never done. His dark stares grated against my nerves, and I sprang out of bed with the silk sheet wrappednaround my torso. Felix straightened up, his body becoming alert as I padded across the cold marble floor to fetch my clothes. "What are you doing Jess?" He queried with a tone of disapproval. "l am getting dressed," I said flatly. "It is three o'clock in the morning," Felix replied. I picked up my clothes from the table and headed towards the adjoining bathroom I had just spotted out of the corner of my eye. Suddenly I felt Felix probing inside my head trying to work out what I was doing. When he realized that I was planning to get dressed then walk back to the dorm he became impatient. "Where do you think you are going?" He sighed. In an emotionless tone I replied, "You've read my mind, so you already know." Felix's lips tightened and he growled, "Jess get back into bed, it is three o'clock in the morning." I ignored him and continued to walk towards the bathroom door. Coolly I went to open the bathroom door but jumped in fright when Felix's hand darted out in front of me, brushing past my own arm and grabbed onto the steel door handle to slam the bathroom door shut. I turned to face him and found myself eye level with Felix's chest. My breath caught in my throat as I realized that I had become sandwiched between Felix and the bathroom door. s**t, he was so close I could feel the heat from his skin radiating through the thin black silk sheet wrapped around my nearly naked body. My gaze involuntarily swept downwards, and I noticed how toned his abdomen was, suddenly whatever we were fighting about was forgotten as the female hormones in my brain disabled my cognitive capacity for rational thinking. At first, I thought it was just me, but then I noticed that Felix had fallen silent too. He was transfixed to the spot, looking down at me with warm honey brown eyes that pleaded with me to stay. "Jess" He breathed softly. My heart felt an ache and I leaned forward, reaching up on my tip toes and kissed him. Felix's lips were soft and pliant, and ever so warm. My body pressed against his chest, and I had to keep reminding myself not to let go of the thin black sheet wrapped around my torso. Felix's hand dropped from the bathroom handle onto my waist, and he bent his head down so that I did not have to reach up on my tiptoes to kiss him. Our lips moved in perfect synchronicity, and I never once paused to wonder about technique or if I was doing something wrong with my mouth. I had never kissed many boys and on the few occasions I had every experience was often awkward and unpleasant. After each experience I would wonder why people enjoyed kissing so much. but after kissing Felix I could understand. This was perfect. His hard warm body against mine, pressing up against me with increasing hunger. The heat between us was intensifying. I couldn't help but want more. I murmured his name against my lips in a kind of agonized plea, begging for relief. Felix obliged by kissing me harder and deeper. I suppressed a groan in my throat and floated my hands over his chest. The black silk sheet that was wrapped around me floated to the floor and suddenly we were skin to skin. The warmth of his skin bled into mine and found myself melting into him. I wanted to feel him. I needed to feel him. The urge was primal and all consuming. My legs felt weak with sensation and Felix encouraged me to wrap my arms around his shoulders. Without thinking I lifted my arms around his neck and found myself being lifted on to his hips. I closed my legs around him, straddling his waist. His skin felt so warm against mine and everything was so perfect. Holding me close he carried me across the room and over to the bed, where he lay me gently down upon the black sheets of silk. Felix stood back and stared down at me, taking in every inch of my body with his hungry eyes. "You are amazing," he said breathlessly. I flushed at his remark and watched in anticipation as Felix climbed onto the bed next to me. His black hair was a ruffled sexy mess which was begging to be stroked. Raising my hand, I dragged my fingers through his hair as he lowered his mouth to kiss my neck. "We should stop now" He said moving his mouth across my collarbone, "If we go any further then I will not be able to stop." I held his head to me and replied shakily, “Please don't stop- I need this. I need you." For this moment I wanted to forget everything around me by seeking refuge in his body. I wanted to forget that I was a vampire, and that Sarah Turner was trying to get me kicked out of college. I wanted to forget everything around me. Lifting his head Felix looked into my eyes and asked, "Are you sure?” When he asked me the question there was something inside me that knew what was coming, as if it was predestined. Although I never wanted to admit it out loud or even to myself, there was something which was telling me that we simply belonged together. Felix was mine and I was his- whether I wanted to acknowledge this reality or not. I leaned forward and lightly kissed the corner of his mouth. I pulled back and saw Felix staring at me. He looked almost frozen, like he had been struck dumb. I leaned forward again, but this time I was brave. I brushed my lips against his and began to kiss him slowly. Reaching up, I gently caressed his jawline with my fingertips. Felix responded immediately to my touch, his mouth moved against mine deepening the kiss and I felt his arms folding around me, pulling me closer to make love. I gave myself to him completely. I gasped between his kisses as wave upon wave of sensation assaulted me, pushing me to a point where it felt like I would die if Felix ever stopped. He took me completely, making me his in the most intimate way possible. When the release came, I closed my eyes and called out his name. Felix held my body against his, cradling me in his arms and gently rocking me back and forth, whispering over and over in my ear, "Only you, only you."
