Chapter 59 Three years later So, I recently had my sweet sixteenth birthday. And my grandma made a great big deal about how these were the best years of my life or something. Sure, grannie, whatever. I admit it feels odd, but also nice to have lived in the same place for three years. Most of the kids are still stupid, but I’ve figured out it doesn’t matter. In fact, it’s a benefit. I seem to have become a go-to problem solver. I also have my own group I hang out with—the kids who have no group. You don’t have to be one of the popular kids to do awesome things. And who would want to be one of them? It never helped Denise. Judy and I are still good friends, but Denise and Mindy were never quite the same after what happened.
