We retreat to the girl’s restroom and check the stalls to be sure they’re unoccupied. Then I give Judy a quick rundown, leaving out the part about how I might be cheating on Denise with her boyfriend. Because I’m not really sure that I am cheating.
Judy’s eyes widen. “So the most popular girl in school needs your help. And she doesn’t want anyone to know. Why?”
“Exactly.”
“And you’re spying on her boyfriend in exchange for her promise to be friends with you?”
Her voice seems to mock me. Judy may not be good at math, but she’s a quick study when it comes to people.
“Uh, yeah.”
“How about Randy? What have you found out about him?”
