16 Watching Olivia try to run the Last Chance did the strangest things to Jake’s insides. The woman had so many skills and abilities, but none of them came into play as a bartender. Not even the interrogation skills seemed to transfer. The casual chitchit that often led to secrets getting spilled didn’t come naturally to her. But the fact that she was trying—for him—was the sweetest thing he’d ever seen. No matter that he had to keep reminding her that the red wine was served in different glasses than the white wine, or that the bowls of free bar snacks needed to be kept full.
