Olivia and Laine went into the bathroom to execute their appearance switch. Jake leaned against the doorway and watched Laine work her makeup magic. He hated this plan, mostly because it involved being separated from Olivia. He knew she was a badass and all, but everyone needed backup.
“Why can’t I stay behind? I can’t drive, so I’ll be useless in the car. Olivia, you can drive Laine somewhere safe.”
“Absolutely not.” Olivia wove an extension into her scalp. “They’re expecting to see a tall, broad-shouldered man and an adoring bride, not two women. Sorry, but neither of us can pass for Jake Rockwell, the heartbreaker of Rocky Peak.”
“Is that what he’s called?” Laine asked, amused. “I can see why.”
