Chapter Fourteen After an uneventful hike down the mountain they arrived at the parking lot just as the last rays of the sun disappeared behind a hill. The sky was a deep indigo color dotted with the first stars of twilight. The wind’s strength increased, causing Sax to shiver as the temperature suddenly dropped several degrees. The tall fir and pine trees shushed and swayed like mythical giants in fairytales. Seeing her shiver Bryce put an arm round her shoulder and pulled her close. His warmth felt good against her. She smiled weakly at him and mouthed a thank you. He winked. She could get used to this. He likes me. Cool. “Here we are,” said Tiffany. The trail she led them to, she said, was a short cut.
