Chapter 4. Meeting him

1426 Words
Isa’s POV THREE MONTHS LATER I stirred on my bed, my eyes still open and wet with tears. It’s been three months since I’ve been stuck in this hell called marriage. I could hear faint moans of a woman from the other room and could tell it was Adam with one of his numerous girlfriend he brought into the house on a regular basis. I don’t know why it hurt so much each time i heard his loud grunts and her loud moans together. It wasn’t as if he was the brother I had fallen in love with but it still hurt so much that my heart would squeeze painfully. Slapping my ears with my pillows wouldn’t even work since she was as loud as a broken car. I get up from the bed, putting on my robe on and heading downstairs. I put on soft music on and increase the volume to the loudest before going back into my room. I laid my head on my pillow and the moment my eyes closed, I fell into a deep sleep. When I woke up again, it was morning and the sun had already began to shine. I yawned, standing up from bed before stretching as I walked right into the bathroom to relive myself. I had later stoop up when Adam was done with his w***e to pee since my baby was literally sitting on my bladder. The memory of what had happened last night stunk me in the chest as I tried to blink my tears away. I think emotionally connected or not but no woman wanted the man who she was legally married to sleeping with different women and doing it in the house his wife is in! It was disrespectful and this had made me conclude to stay away from Adam’s path. I take a shower and then head downstairs for breakfast, hoping his last night w***e had already left by now but as I walk into the dinning area to eat, I see the slut from last night seated at my spot in the dinning. Normally, I would’ve asked the maid to send my breakfast to my room but for some reason today, I wasn’t having it. “I’m sure he’s paid you for your services already. Get up and get out.” I said sternly. The girl who I suppose was a university girl frowned at me. “And who are you?.” She asked boldly. “The wife of the man you were f*****g last night.” I spat out not caring I had cursed. Her eyes went wide in fear as she scuttled out of the house. I gave myself a small smile of satisfaction but could not suppress the way I had come to love and at the same time loath Adam. Right on cue, he walked in, taking a seat at the head table. As usual, he ignored my existence as the chef dished his food out. I quietly pulled out a chair at the far end of the dinning table as the chef came to serve me my own food. I began to eat immediately my plate was dropped in front of me. I heard Adam clear his throat which made me turn to look at him, only to find him staring at him. His eyes boring into me. “How far gone are you?.” He asked with a frown. I furrowed my brows. “Huh?.” I asked confused at his question. He cleared his throat again, seeming uncomfortable to speak. “The baby. That’s what I mean.” He said. “Oh.” I replied. I was surprised he even cared since he had not ever bothered to ask. “Well. I’m three months gone. That’s my first trimester.” I replied excitedly. Every day was a day closer to having my lovely baby in my arms and I could not wait to have this child and shower him/her with all the love I had to give. “Is your tummy big enough?.” Adam asked. I looked at him perplexed. What sort of question was that?. “Answer the damn question Isa. I hate waiting and you know that.” He snapped. “Ummm. Well, I’ve got this little bump and it’s not noticeable in dresses twice my size.” I replied. Adam took a long look at me. “Wear something tight tonight. I need that baby bump showcased.” He said like I was some sort of doll. “Tonight for what?.” I asked confused and curious at the same time. “My father’s company is celebrating the success of a charity project we had invested in. I need you there to parade you around so people actually know I’m married and expecting a child.” Adam said with no shame. “This baby is not yours.” I replied with a clipped tone glaring at him. Adam simply chuckled getting up. “The thing is Isa, we both know you can’t say that to anyone. The Desmond I know would deny you in a heartbeat and then you’ll be labeled a w***e for sleeping with two brothers and getting them confused on who was the real father of your baby.” Adam said sinisterly. My heart began to thump in my chest because I knew Adam was right. I was a poor girl and it would be easy to label me a pauper trying to gain an easy life by trapping two brothers. There was no way out in this for me. “And won’t your brother be present for this?.” I ask, already scared at the thought of bumping into Desmond. “He’s out in Greece so don’t worry. By the time he’s back, I would’ve gotten what I wanted.” Adam said. “Which is?.” “None of your business. We leave at 7pm. Remember to make sure that bump shows.” He said leaving me alone in the dinning room. At exactly 5pm, a stylist walked into my room. The stylist revealed Adam had not felt confident in my ability to look presentable, so he had sent her over. While it was insulting, I was also grateful for having the stylist around since it meant I didn’t have to worry about what to wear again and by 7pm on the dot I was ready. I stared at myself in the mirror, not recognizing the woman looking back at me. My red hair had been straightened and then curled in big waves before being knotted into a messy bun. My makeup was a simple makeup with a red lipstick which matched the red dress I had on. The outfit was paired with glass heels and diamond earrings and neck piece Adam had gotten for me. I looked like a pregnant rich, spoilt woman with my little baby bump standing out. I smiled to myself before leaving to meet Adam. Adam stared at me for a while, his eyes not giving anything away and when he was done he nodded in approval. “Exactly what I was going for. Let’s go Mrs Richardson or we’ll be late.” He said lovingly as he opened the car door for me. I hated how my heart fluttered as I got into the car. It didn’t take up to 15 minutes and we were at the venue. Adam had meant business when he said he wanted to show off my baby bump because he made me walk everywhere, saying hi to different people i didn’t even know. I managed to escape him, slipping away when he didn’t notice as I want to the bathroom to hide. After a while i decided it was time to return back to the party before Adam starts looking for me. When I got out I saw Adam glaring at a man who was in front of him. The man seemed familiar so I went to check him out. I halted in my tracks when I heard the voice. It sounded just like Adams but Adam’s lips weren’t moving since I was looking at him. “What?…” the man backing me asked Adam as my heart continued to pound in my chest. He turned to look at me and my eyes widened. “Isa?.” “Desmond.” I whispered out in shock. Adams went around Desmond, moving to hug me closer to his side. “Desmond meet Isa, my wife and mother of my child.” Adam said with a smile.
