10. Unfaithful

The next morning when Urvi was leaving for the hospital, she forgot to take her coat. Jake advised Urvi - "You are getting late love. So, I'll meet you near the parking lot with your coat."

Urvi: "Oh that would be great. My beige coat is on the left-hand side of the drawers."

Jake went to the room and took the beige coat from her wardrobe. While taking the coat a picture fell from the wardrobe. He noticed the picture lying on the ground. When Jake picked it, he saw Urvi with the same woman he met during the conference at the Bloomfield Hotel. The picture reminded Jake about the incident when he saved her and how she was a victim of domestic violence.

Jake got worried about the fact that when Urvi would know about her friend’s present situation, it will break her heart. He thought to quickly tell Urvi about her long-lost friend.

When came to the parking lot. Urvi asked while going through her handbag “Love Did you find my coat?”

“Yes, and I found something else too” Jake replied while showing the picture to Urvi.

When Urvi saw Jake with the picture in his hand, she snatched it from Jake’s hand while being resentful she got inside the car while smashing the door. Jake asked her to stop and at least listen to him nonetheless she started the car while ignoring him. He stood in front of the car and uttered “Stop acting like a child Urvi at least listen to my reason.”

“Me? You are acting like a child. You know I hide it for some reason. I told you, I will let you see it when I am ready to share the story. But you were not able to sacrifice your curiosity for my privacy. For you it’s important to know whose picture it was, right? I requested you before that I’m not ready to talk about this topic. You didn’t even give one thought about not seeing the picture.”

Jake got inside the car and asked Urvi to at least listen to him. Urvi replied while being curious “Why are you so desperate about giving me the reasons for your doings? If you have seen the picture then it’s fine. Anyway, it’s not like you know her. You both are strangers.”

Jake: “That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you, that we are not strangers Urvi. She is the same woman I saved from an accident.”

At Jahnvi and Liam’s house

Jahnvi was holding the tea in her hand thinking to tell Liam about the good news. She was afraid of how Liam might react to the news of her pregnancy.

Liam uttered “My Dear Wife, why are you spaced out? Now, you are bringing the tea. I asked you to bring it quickly. Anyways, put it on the table.”

Jahnvi kept the tea on the table and thought to tell him. She stood there, making her mind if it’s the right thing to do.

Liam said in curiosity “Why are you still standing here? Do you want to say something? If you want to say something then say it quickly, I have got a lot of work to do”

To make a decision, Jahnvi kept staring at Liam. Soon she made her mind about the news and said “Nothing!”

On the other side, Jake told Urvi everything about the woman he met at the conference.

“I knew Liam was not a good man for her. Jahnvi could never be happy with him. He will destroy her life. I knew this from the start. Urvi told Jake while being all worried about her friend.

Jake asked Urvi “You know Liam?”

Urvi replied “Yes I know him very well. I knew that bastards intentions from the start.”

Urvi further told Jake about the old incident when she first met Liam.

6 Years Ago

Jahnvi was young and in love with soon to be her husband Liam. She bought Urvi at Liam’s house. Jahnvi gave Urvi’s introduction to him “This is Urvi, my best friend. She is studying for her medical degree. She was near the house. So, I thought to bring her inside.”

Liam greeted Urvi and said she has a beautiful name. Urvi being all excited said, “Actually, I begged her to at least let me meet with her husband and see her new home.”

Liam: “Of course! You did the right thing. Jahnvi your friend is visiting our house for the first time. So bring her some beverages darling.”

When Jahnvi got up, Urvi followed her. While leaving those two, Jahnvi singled Urvi to sit with him and have a little chit-chat.

When Liam saw Jahnvi leaving he stood up, sat next to Urvi. She moved a little backward from her place and asked “So, What you do Liam Archibald?”

Liam: “You can just call me Liam”

Urvi: “Okay. So, how did you two met?”

Liam: “It was in our destiny to meet. Anyway, why haven’t I met you before?”

Urvi: “Sorry?”

Liam: “I mean you two are best friends. You both spend a lot of time together. So, why haven’t I met you before?”

Urvi felt a little uncomfortable and changed the question “I guess you like reading a lot of books”

Liam: “Not just books, other stuff too. Do you have a boyfriend or spouse? You are beautiful too.”

“First studies and my career then I’ll think about all this.” Urvi was uncomfortable at that moment. She moved towards the bookshelf in order to take a book. Liam followed her and started glaring at her ass. When Urvi took the book, Liam uttered while feeling her ass “Great choice!”

Urvi was in shock and told him to move his hand from her back. “Why are you panicking? I was only helping you reaching towards the top shelf. Do you have a small-town mentality? By the way, you are my friend too now. So, what’s wrong with the touching?” He further moved his hand for grabbing Urvi’s waist.

By hearing Liam’s words after what he did, a fresh swell of rage rose in her. Fury roared through her mind, anger welled up in her chest. When fury overtook her, Urvi slapped him in rage and said “You are disgusting! You are just another cheap person.”

Soon, Jahnvi came from the kitchen. Urvi grabbed her hands and asked her to leave with her. She whispered in Jahnvi’s ear “Please! Leave with me Jahnvi. You don’t know him. He’s not the right man. He disgusting and he tried to grab me in the wrong way. Just leave with me now.”

Jahnvi: “Urvi how can we leave like that? Maybe there’s some misunderstanding.”

Liam: “There is no misunderstanding Jahnvi. She’s intentionally making me a bad guy here because she can’t see both of us happily together. She’s just jealous.”

Urvi: “Shut your damn mouth! There’s nothing more I want than Jahnvi’s happiness.”

Liam: “That’s why you keep her in your control? Jahnvi is so innocent and docile. If you are her best friend then say it clearly you are jealous of her. She has everything now- Money, a big house, and the status of freedom. All of this is hard for you to fathom Urvi.”

Urvi: “This is complete bullshit! You are wrong!”

Liam: “Your intentions are wrong. I swear to the god Jahnvi, I neither glared at her with the bad eyes nor touched her. You think Jahnvi, I have a beautiful wife like you why would I even glare at another woman. She’s just jealous of us.”

Liam further holds Jahnvi’s hand and said politely “You know how much I love you Jahnvi. The rest of it is your choice.”

Urvi lost her mind by seeing Liam another face. She held Jahnvi’s face with her hand and said “Don’t listen to him Jahnvi. He’s just making everything. You just leave with me now!”

Liam: “We are getting married Jahnvi and marriage is built on trust. You don’t trust me? I’m glad all of this is happing. This is our test.”

Urvi grabbed Jahnvi’s hand and asked her to leave with her. Jahnvi stopped while letting go of Urvi’s hand.

Urvi was in a sudden shock, tears fell from her eyes, and rage flowed through her like lava. She was breathless with anger. Inwardly, she was seething. She was wordless with rage, almost choking. 

When Urvi looked at Liam’s face. He smirked in triumph. In a rage, Urvi left the place. At that moment, Liam consoled her sobbing wife while holding her in his arms and patting her head.
