Mess in the kitchen

I woke up early today to make it up for Moxie. I decided to make her favorite omelet with some garlic toasts she used to request me to bring during her grade school. I heard the door opened. Without looking, I said; "Good morning Mo⎼" it was father. "Pa, you're here. I thought you'll be home later today after dinner." He didn't say anything. "I think it would be better if you'll have breakfast with me and Moxie." "We had some troubles at work to handle yesterday." he finally said something. "Let's talk about it later." he turns his back and took some plates. "What time did you arrive?" I asked. "I came home passed nine." "Oh yeah, she gave me a phone call around nine before I did." I told him. "Can you check her up in her room so we can start eating now?" I opened her door and saw her on her bed. I stared at her image for a moment while she was still in her slumber. She's turning into a young woman as she starts growing her chest and her curves are obviously developing. "Ross?" she looked startled "What's gotten to your eyes?" "Uhm. . . probably some insect bites. How did⎼" "You forgot to lock your door." I smiled. "Did I?" "Come on up, sleepyhead. I made some omelets and toasts!" I grabbed the pillow and hit her softly. "I can't.. "Why not?" "Piggyback" "What?? No way!" "Please. . ." she moved her arms and gestured herself for a lift. "You⎼" Faster than light, she runs then jumps on my back causing our bodies to knock on the floor. Her back is laid against the floor while my body is positioned on her top. My right hand is placed under her head to support. Her body curled up like a scared baby. None of us said anything. We look to each other for a minute. My eyes run to her nose...down to her lips. Her lips are red like cherries. I could smell her sweet scent. I think my heart is going to explode. . . I swallowed. This is not right. "A-are you hurt?" she asked. I gained my conscious back after hearing my father calling our names. "Let's go down." Having to eat with my father and Moxie go so well today than yesterday. Moxie talks about her usual days. She pointed out much her distress in her Math class. Well at least she opens up like simple things although, she gets upset whenever I ask her about schools and projects. "Your birthday is quite soon." father told her. "Anything else on your mind? We can throw a party." "I know but I don't plan anything for my day or want anything for now." "I mean... I want to give you something." "Pa, It's okay. Birthdays are only for little kids." She smiles then moves her hand away from him. Then she put them on her lap. I interrupt. "How about...We'll go out and have dinner? "Sounds great! she said. Father shook his head and then rubbed it. "You're really big now." "I am. Thanks." she confirmed. "Maybe we should go for dinner just the three of us and then we will eat whatever you want or give you anything you ask. What do you think? I said. "Strawberry frosty and steamed crabs." "Moxie, that's gross! I put my fingers to each holes of my nozzle. "Anything will do for my girl." father laughed. "Those are my favorites! "Whatever. I'm going to get you something like decent clothes maybe." She finishes her food "I have some. I don't need more." "FYI, that hoody on you is mine." I reminded her. "Look, it's 40 degree Celsius out there. I don't get it why do you always wear my jacket." She laughed hysterically. "For comfort. It's mine now." "Let me get you something okay? "I said⎼" "I insist." "Enough with that kids. You better get ready or you'll miss school. *** "Why do we have to take Music anyway? This is ridiculous!" Kyle sat next to me. He looks pissed off. "Will you please lower your voice? I can't think." Nyx murmured behind me. "Now, this is really getting my head hurt." "Just keep answering." I said softly. "This has nothing to do with Engineering!" he complained. "I don't see the point in here either." she mumbled. I scan the examination paper on my table. It contains mostly multiple choices and identification. I see unfamiliar notes and illustrations. I think I'm going to puke out. This is crazy. I can't even sing or at least read a single note. This is so much. "For the economy, let's do this." it was Todd. "NOOO!" We said in chorus. Everyone looks at us. "HUSH! HUSH! Our professor comes in, marching with his hands a bundle of paper which I presume more examinations are waiting for us to be taken. I'm really clueless about what we might be having today. To be honest, I regret spending a night playing ArchAge and not doing my part as a student. I say, I read my books and study my lessons somehow, but not as often as Todd who seems to love everything about the world. But that's okay. I realized he was born with a gifted mind in which he evidently has more future await than I. . . .I recall when I was still young; I confessed to my father what I really wanted to be. He told me, "You'll grow up to be an Engineer." From that, all my hopes were falling into pieces. It was all he wanted. He never listened. He never notices how much hard work I invest for him to see my worth or at least see what I deserve. My love for arts had begun from day one up until now. I want to make strokes with my brushes, applying different colors to make something lively and meaningful. Art has more freedom and expression to me. I can squeeze out all my true feeling without even trying to put my feelings into words... "Are you done?" This time, I'm more afraid to the tone of his voice than my grade for his subject. The whole class was in total silence. He put the papers on his table. He glances to his watch and waits until a minute left to be over. "Please disseminate." On his cue, one student came immediately onto his table and took the bundle of paper. I looked at Kyle, "What was that for?" he threw something which it could almost hit my head. "Cheats."he said. I looked at Todd's direction but he just shrugged. "Stop being a good boy, Ross." then he laughed. "Open it." "Kyle, it's not funny." I told him. [Suddenly] "You will be given one and a half hour to accomplish the exam. I don't want to see anything else on your table beside the paper and the pen. You can use your calculator. For your scratch paper, I have already provided a sheet of paper attached to the back of your test paper." he explained. "However, before we begin, you must surrender your phones." He continued. Then he started gathering our phones one by one. He brushed on and straightened up his coat. "When you finished, submit your paper to your class president." Then, he sat in front of the class with his laptop on. "Piece of cake! We got numbers over here. This has more sense finally." a big smile on Kyle's face. "This is heaven." I heard Todd said. "I hope we finish everything on time." I said. Honestly, I was the only one among my friends who does not take things seriously. I don't know maybe because I do not enjoy what I am doing right now. After all, it's for my father...so he has a son to call an Engineer. "Psst!" "Hm?" "Did you see it?" Kyle asked. He pointed out the crumpled paper with his index finger, "That." I looked over to my feet and then, I took the crumpled paper on the floor. "It's for you. I didn't mean to hit your head. Sorry. Ha-ha!" I opened the paper. It says: Mom's birthday. Hope to see you on next Saturday. Below, her name was written.
