I put my headphone on the table then rolled my swivel chair a little to look at her.
"Mox, It's open."
She comes in and says,
"Are you free today?"
"Uhm..Yeah, Just playing around. Why?
"I thought it's warm outside. I'll get you an ice cream." she looks excited. "My treat!"
I'm almost done with my game but I do not want to ruin her mood so..
"Let me just get dressed, ok? I'll see you downstairs."
***
"So, how often do you hang out here?"
She asked while paying at the counter.
"At 7 Eleven?"
"Nooo!" she pouted her lips.
"Gaisano Mall."
"Oh, not much. I come here like once or twice in two months."
"Hm."
"What's 'hmm?" I asked.
I licked the chocolate Corneto ice cream that she gave me. It tasted even better especially it really complements to the hot weather.
"I'm just wondering." she says. "I like to think you and Nyx come here often."
She took her pink handkerchief in her pouch then starts wiping the corner of her lips.
"And...What makes you think of that?"
I grabbed the handkerchief from her hand to wipe her nose. "Hold on."
"Opps." her face turned red. "So that means . . . you haven't tried out their new cinema? They had just put 'If I Stay' on the show since last week." she said as we continue to walk in.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"Seriously? All the students in the university talk about it but you seem like... you haven't heard of it yet." she sounded disappointed. "It has the book actually which I read for ten times already."
I'm confused.
"You read it many times yet you still want to see it from the show?"
"Yeah. I just wanna see how they are going to put it on the screen."
"Clever."
She starts being quiet. "Okay. My turn."
We went to the cinema just like what she wanted. But before we could have out tickets, we had to fall in line which was twenty five meters in length. As a promise, I paid for our food and tickets. Good thing, I have saved little money from my weekly allowance.
"Are you sure you don't mind?" I asked. "The show will start in another hour left."
"Yep. We can wait a little bit more." she said while looking at the ticket in her hand. "Besides, we waited long already, there's no point in turning back."
"Could we maybe walk somewhere or buy something while we wait the show to start?"
"Oh, Let's play games!"
She grabbed my hand and started pulling me.
"You are very smart!" I told her. "I should have thought about going to arcade before."
"Poor you." She put her tongue out.
"Silly!"
"O-ouch! Why did you do that?"
She put her hand on her cheek.
"Because you look so cute when you make a goofy face!
"I hate you."
"Awe. I love my little sister."
"I'm no little anymore."
"Technically, you are little...and my sister." I laughed.
She snapped the ball then, threw it on the ring.
"You're so hard on me."
"Sorry..."
She went silent, almost for a minute. I guess I made her so mad as if I did or said something unforgivable. I keep asking for apologies but she just remained quiet. I hate it whenever she does this because I have no clue how to regain her mood.
We were just okay⎼
"I got you!"
She hit my buttocks then run off faster than the cheetah.
"What the f****!"
I can't believe it! That was so embarrassing.
"Moxie!!!"
***
"Which seat are you on?" she asked.
We finally made it to the cinema after decades of waiting.
"Whichever. Just grab on your seat so we can go home."
"Blah blah.Whatever. This is going to be fun." she sat on my left along the isle. I could see her eyes sparkling on excitement despite darkness.
"I hope." I said, while grabbing a handful of popcorn in my bucket. "We'll see about that."
Even if my eyes were focused on the screen, I could still see her face on my peripheral view. She looked dead serious. She does not response whenever I try to interrupt her. I don't know what she likes about the movie. It's basically about the woman who was in comma while the rest of his family died from the accident.
"What would you do if I die like in the movie but you survived?"
She asked, out of blue.
"I do not like this kind of question." I glared at her.
"Com'on Ross. I just want to know." she looked back on the screen.
"Nobody would want to lose anybody." I hold her hand. It was cold but, I felt a little sweat on her palm. "Especially, if this person is closest to his or her heart." I told her.
"You know what else?"
"What?" she asked. Her eyes got big, looks like she was longing for an answer.
"I think you need to soak your hands in water with salt."
"Aww! You hit my head!
I couldn't stop laughing.
