"BOO!"
"Ahh!"
I almost slip onto my chair. I scratched my head upon seeing her popped out from behind me.
"I'm sorry, I did not mean to scare you," she gesture in which the index and middle fingers are raised and parted to make a V-shape while the other fingers are clenched.
"Ross, I missed you." There was a sense of longing in her voice, "I just went to your house but your father told me that you were away. So, I thought to come here."
"I just wanted to surprise you. It's been a while, isn't it?"
"I cannot remember the last time we see each others." I said.
"Exactly! That's why I'm here."
"You haven't changed. How are you?" She made an eye contact then twirled her hair.
I took my sketchpad next to me so she can have the space to her buttocks.
"Everything's great. I spend most of my spare time in my favorite spot as you can see."
"What is it? wasn't it Moxie's neckless?" She asked.
"Yes. Ever since she died, I keep it in my pocket."
"You misses her, aren't you?"
I felt like a sudden force has stopped me from opening my mouth, like something chokes me up immediately before I could speak. The truth is I cannot stand whenever someone would bring the topic about her, especially about her death. I wasn't move on yet and there is so much still pain left in my heart. Please let's talk something else, can we? " Y-yes, I, mmm-
Rather,
"H-how are you?"
"Work has been hectic. I'm on leave therefore, I have much time to do the things outside," she smiled.
"Thanks, Nyx."
"For what?"
"You have been on my side through the years."
"You're my bestfriend," her cheeks turned red. "By the way, I came to tell that I will be leaving in two days. I just got my visa, as well as my ticket to Mexico. I'm not sure when I will be coming back," she murmured " I will be staying with my dad while my mom will have to stay since she has work here." she was looking at those rock she was kicking with her shoes.
I place my arm around her shoulder to make her feel that everything will be alright even though I knew she would be sad. She put her head on my shoulder in return, then I felt left arm on my waist.
"I don't want you to be upset, we can chat, right?"
"Certainly yes! If even I come back to the Philippines, I'll bright pasalubong," she said.
"Is it true?!"
"Of course! Lots of chocolates."
"Oo, tapos maramiiing chocolates!!
[car horn]
A car was seen approaching on our way. A lady on her late forty came out. She was wearing a straight and narrow cut dress, which makes it fit close to the body and it looks so valuable.
"She's here," she straighten up, about to get up, "I told her to pick me up here after her work. So.."
"I have to go." she said.
"So I guess I have to say goodbye. You take care. "
"Thank you, Ross. I will miss you." she grab me and hug me so tight that I could barely breathe.
"I will miss you more."
It was the thing I said. She run off until she jump inside the car. I follow their direction until the car was finally gone.
