The Dark Secrets of Lake City

CHAPTER 5

It took Danny some minutes to realise the people he was seeing in the room were scientists.

The gigantic structure Danny had just seen the scientists working on was a giant robot about the size of three medium houses. Maybe a bit bigger and it had many large black cables that were channelled from the ceiling in the room attached to it. And they were connected from different parts from some huge machines to the robot.

Most of the scientists were dressed in white lab coats while some others were dressed in clothes that looked like they were made for space.

There was a very large screen on the wall which ran from the ground almost to the ceiling of the room and it displayed the visuals and images of the gigantic robot they were constructing. Some of the scientists were writing on iPads, some were busy connecting things to the giant robot while some others controlled the machines that were used in the construction of the robot.

Danny was at the upper part of the room while the construction happened at the lower part of the room. He could see what was going on from where he stood as the scientists walked up and down from one place in the lower part of the room to the other

After some minutes of hiding carefully while he watched the construction that happened in the room, Danny decided to go check out other places in the large room. Danny hid carefully as left where he had been to go check out the other doors he could see in the large room. Somehow, he had a good feeling he would see something else that was going to marvel him like the one he had just seen.

Danny hid carefully as he kept walking until suddenly he came across a certain door. Danny could notice the clear difference between the door and the other doors he had seen in the large room. Without wasting any time, Danny tried the handle on the door.

But to his surprise, it didn't open. Then he tried the handle again but the door still wouldn't open up. Immediately he pushed against the door very hard but yet. The door still didn't open.

Feeling a bit defeated, Danny began walking away from the door. As he looked around the place noticing other doors. Danny had walked for some time, hiding away from the scientists he had seen at the lower part of the large room when he suddenly stopped in front of a small passage between the walls at the end of two rooms.

Curiously Danny began moving closer to the passage that wasn't properly lit. The passage looked dim like the bulbs there weren't functioning properly. As soon as he reached the entrance of the passage, he looked around to see if anyone was coming by. Then he entered the passage immediately.

As soon as Danny had reached the end of the passage, he came out. To his surprise, he had just entered a big room not as big as the previous rooms but the size of the place was quite big for a room. About 10 times the size of an average room. As soon as Danny walked into the room, he noticed a large glass box at the centre of the room. Slowly he began moving towards the glass box.

Throwing glances around the place to see if anyone was there. As soon as Danny had confirmed nobody was around there, he hurried up to the glass box. After some seconds, Danny arrived at the large glass box. Without wasting any time, he looked inside the box. All of a sudden Danny drew back.

Almost falling to the ground he managed to catch himself. He could feel his heartbeat very fast as he stared at the glass box. Danny had just seen something that shocked him more than the robot he had seen previously. It was something that seemed like a kind of scary experiment that was being carried out in the glass box. And it seemed like it was a kind of human experiment.

Slowly Danny moved closer to the glass box. Without wasting any time, he looked inside the box and to his surprise it was a human figure who looked up to seven feet tall. The person’s body was covered in a kind of flaming colour. Blue, black and white. The person’s body had been connected with many black wires from almost all the corners at the lower part of the glass box. Immediately, Danny placed his hand on his chest. His heart was now beating faster than ever. It felt like he was about to throw up any moment from then. “What the hell is this place?” Danny gasped looking struck.

All of a sudden, Danny heard some voices and some footsteps approaching from the other corner of the room. Without wasting any time, he hid in one corner of the large room.

It wasn't up to a minute since Danny had hidden that some scientists walked into the room. And they were heading straight to the glass box. Danny could hear them talking about some things he just couldn't understand.

There were only a few scientists there and none of them noticed Danny who was hidden in a corner while he watched them closely wondering what they came to do at the glass box. Possibly to the human figure he had just seen in that box. All of a sudden, the room was beginning to get filled with gas that was now being produced from the glass box as a result of the experiment and Danny couldn't see clearly as more gas filled the room. And they now seemed to be coming from the machines at some corners of the room. Even close to where he was hiding.

As Danny hid there watching the scientists while they talked and noted down things on their pads while they examined the body in the glass box, he suddenly noticed the signs on most of the scientist's clothes. All of a sudden, it hit him. He had just seen those signs when he entered the two previous rooms. On the walls, the machines there. Even on top of the black giant robot. Immediately he sighted the same Mark somewhere close to the edge of the glass box.

Even the scientists in the previous rooms had the sign on their clothes.

Feeling very frightened at what he had just seen there in the glass box, Danny began making his way out of the room. Hiding behind the machines close to the wall side. Danny hurried out of the room at once into another passage like the one he had entered into the large room with. Not making a single sound. It was hard to notice someone walking to the passage now the whole room was filled with white gases.

As soon as Danny came out of the passage, he entered another room. Quite small compared to the previous room. As soon as Danny entered the room, he noticed a structure looking quite attractive to the eyes mounted at the centre of the room. And there seemed to be a transparent box on it. Danny couldn't see clearly what he felt was inside the box from where he was so he decided to check it out. Without wasting any time, he looked around the room. Making sure no one was around there. Immediately he hurried to the structure. As soon as

Danny reached the structure, he moved closer. Capturing the image of the transparent box on it while he looked around the structure. All of a sudden, Danny noticed something in the box.

It was a small device enclosed in the box. And Danny couldn't help but wonder what the device could be. The device looked quite advanced like it had been brought there from the nearest future. Like in the movies. The ones Jimmy spent most of his time watching.

Feeling very curious to know what the device was, Danny pressed a green button on the screen on top of the structure next to the box that read ‘Open’ Immediately the box drew open leaving the device uncovered. Without wasting any time, Danny stretched his hand taking out the device from the structure.
