The Post:
“I’m right here honey, no one is going to hurt you, okay?” Mrs. Mira assured Yelena as she rubbed her back gently.
Yelena kept quiet as she hugged her mom back. She was happy to know that her mom didn’t chase her out, even when she had returned to the house like a lost sheep.
“I… I’m sorry mom” Yelena apologized again, realizing how much her mom meant to her.
“It's nothing baby, I’m happy you came back ok” She kissed her on her forehead as she stood up from Yelena’s bed.
“You should rest more okay, I will be going out now” Yelena nodded in acceptance of her mom’s words.
She knew her mom was always the outing and busy kind, but she wasn’t sure anymore what her mom was actually doing as an occupation.
Mira walked out of Yelena’s room without knowing the reason Yelena had screamed out so loud like an insane person.
‘It is best I keep it to myself’ Yelena said Inwardly as she laid back on her bed without picking any offense.
Yelena was r***d back in school after her father’s death. Everyone in the school knew about it and had kept on sending her gifts, knowing how nice she was.
She went clubbing with her friends, but little did she know it was a plan to hurt her for always being the top student in school.
Until date, Yelena doesn’t seem to know who it was that had the cold voice and why he did it to her.
She barely saw his face and could barely recall what his voice sounded like considering the fact that she was drugged back then.
It was one of her deadliest moment in life. She had refused to open up to anyone after that day, and not even her mom knew about it.
She had nightmares of different kinds even when her dad r***d her which were all illusions.
Yelena preferred to keep it all to herself and tell no one at home.
She had actually stopped dreaming for over nine months but all of a sudden, it came back, and she wasn’t sure of the reason.
After so many thoughts about why she had suddenly had the nightmare, she stood up from her bed and made her way to the bathroom, so she could leave the house soon.
She was obviously tired of laying on her bed with the sad thoughts about her high school life.
Yelena got a quick shower and when she came out, she got dressed in her oxblood gown which had a little patch on the right side shoulder.
“I need to make my mom proud of me for once. It’s almost that Christmas season and I can’t even afford to get her a cloth” She mumbled regretfully.
Yelena immediately stepped out of her room and had to make sure everything was kept in place before she left the house.
She was walking along the pedestrian walk way in sunset street when she accidentally stumbled on a post which was placed on a café door.
“This looks interesting” She walked closer to it and realized that it was a post of vacancy for a personal maid in a gigantic mansion.
She immediately pulled off the poster that was placed on the door and read the requirements written on it swiftly.
She smiled, knowing that she had everything they wanted for the job. Furthermore, she was smart after all, but had no money to get a uniform of her own as the poster stated.
“I might have no cash with me, but it wouldn’t hurt to give this job a try” She smiled as she turned around towards the direction of the highway with the poster still in her hand.
Yelena immediately flagged down a vehicle that would take her to the mansion at the peak of sunset street.
She had actually heard about the mansion before and how difficult it was for individuals of low class to get a job with the mansion.
She was willing to try her luck and nothing was going to stop her. She heard that even the owner of a café wouldn’t be able to match a cleaner in the Mansion when it comes to their net worth.
“I am going to make sure I get in, mom, no matter what. I’m doing this for you, mom, so you would see that I am not useless as you assumed.” She placed the poster on her chest in a warm embrace as she shut her eyes and said a short prayer.
“We are here now ma’am” The cab man announced and Yelena hurriedly climbed out of the cab as she ran towards the entrance of the mansion.
Here she was, speechless and astonished the moment she saw the massive construction that was in front of her eyes.
She couldn’t believe that the mansion was as big as having the whole nation to one's self.
Yelena went closer to the gate and wondered how she was going to alert the individuals who were inside the house that someone needed to come in.
She was about knocking on the gate when it suddenly opened wide like she was someone so important.
“Wow!!” her eyes glistened in amazement as she watched the gates open up for her.
She walked into the compound and that was when she realized that the main building was quite far away from the gate.
Yelena began her journey to fame by walking frantically on the path that led to the building.
The tall trees that were planted on both the side of the path where she trampled upon made her journey kind of interesting as it seemed like they were all helping her get to the main building faster.
After walking for about thirty minutes, she finally got to the main building and was welcomed by a fair girl who was putting on a white suit.
“Hello, I’m Maya, the chief staff in this house could you please state your reason for coming?” she questioned in a sweet tone which marveled Yelena.
“Oh, sorry but I saw this on my way home” Yelena took out the poster and handed it over to Maya.
“Oh, I see, you are here for the Job!!” Maya took a quick glance at Yelena before she spoke out to her.
“Come with me then” Yelena followed suit as Maya walked into the house.
The outside of the mansion was painted with white and just when Yelena thought she had seen it all, she walked into the house and realized that the mansion was truly heaven on earth.
“Wow!” it had escaped her mouth without her knowing.
Maya turned around to look at Yelena and know why she had exclaimed in such manner.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to” She placed her hand on her mouth as she apologized immediately which made Maya smile.
“It is fine, we get that a lot, you know.” Maya stated, placing her right hand on Yelena’s shoulder.
“Have a seat dear, my boss will meet you soon” Maya assured as she walked out of sight, leaving Yelena in suspense.
Yelena couldn’t get her eyes off the whole decorations that she saw inside the house.
She could just grin at the sight of an astonishing figure she placed her gaze on.
“Are you lost or something?” A voice suddenly caught her attention from up the stairs.
She turned swiftly, and her eyes saw a glimpse of a man in his late nineties, still chuckling like a teenager.
“I am sorry sir, I just…” She was about explaining, but then he interrupted.
“Why are you here and why do you think you can work here?” He threw a probing question at Yelena while he walked down the stairs.
Yelena was dumbfounded, seeing how her interview had started without her getting ready for it.
“I’m here to work for you sir and I don’t just think I can work here, I know I can actually do a perfect job working as your personal maid sir” Yelena immediately responded as she gave him a bow to show her respect.
“So much courage for a little girl” Another voice was heard from the same direction but this time, it was a female’s voice who looked eighty-nine years old.
Seeing her, Yelena could already sense the cold aura that had surrounded her. It was obvious she disliked Yelena’s presence.
“You can’t come in here and claim my home, dear. You can’t be my husband’s personal maid because he has one, okay?”
“Yes ma’am” Yelena’s voice fluctuated as she responded to the lady in green.
“Be nice to her Lisa, she is still little to know that” He cautioned his wife.
The man standing like a teen bit in his middle nineties was known as Mr. Jude Morgan and his wife went by the name Mrs. Lisa Morgan the rude feminist but not to her husband, though.
“We are employing a personal maid for our son and not my husband silly” She said out rudely making Yelena think twice about working for them.
‘I shouldn’t have come here’ Yelena trembled as she clenched her fingers on her clothes.
Just then, Maya walked into the mansion and whispered into Jude’s ear. “Paxton is home sir” She announced with a whisper.
“Then I guess this is the end of this interview, okay. By the way, what is your name, little girl?” Jude questioned.
“I’m…. Yelena Toole” She stuttered because of the way his wife had kept on glaring at her.
“We will get back to you then. So if you don’t mind, you can leave now” Jude requested with a cheerful look on his face.
“Thanks sir” She gave a bow and dashed out of the house immediately with Maya.
She got out of the house and placed her hand on her chest as she took in a deep breath.
“Thank goodness I didn’t die there” she muttered to herself referring to Mrs. Lisa’s attitude.
Just then, Paxton’s car had driven into the mansion, and he saw Yelena trying to comfort herself outside his home.
“What is she doing here? Isn’t that Yelena Toole? The silly girl from high school?” He thought to himself, and as he was trying to climb out of his car to go talk to her, he saw Maya coming out of the house to usher Yelena out.
He immediately went back into his car to avoid causing a scene.
“Something weird is going on in this mansion and I don’t like it” He mumbled to himself, getting a clue of what his dad was about doing.
