Secrets cannot be kept forever

Stephan's POV.

"Lane! I'm telling you she will find out soon enough!!" I was so mad because I kept quiet last night hoping he would tell her everything yet he chooses to keep the most important things from her.

"Stephan she's had too much we can tell her some other time" lane replied as if he doesn't care about this that much "She's about to turn eighteenth and she has to know everything about us before she goes running around wildly in the forest! If you don't tell her then I will" I was about to storm out when I found Elise staring at us full of confusion.

"What's the matter?" we were silent at her questions and I couldn't look her in the eye it just seemed nit right for me to tell her who she is.

"Elise, it's about your birthday. You're turning eighteen and there will be a lot of changes for you" Lane said still beating around the bush.

"and??" she walked closer to us trying to sense something off about us.

"Quit beating around the bush just tell her!" I shouted so suddenly that Elise startled. My wolf Blyke doesn't like to wait anymore.

"What's wrong Stephan??" Elise asked she walked towards me and held my hands as if she was trying to comfort me.

"Let's all sit down" Lane said.

Elise's POV.

I woke up and Stephan was no longer beside me I guessed I slept too much and I can feel my body ached all over. I walked through the hallway and heard men shouting it was Lane and Stephan caught us in an argument. There was something they weren't telling me.

We all sat across each other as Lane spoke softly. "We're not siblings biologically" I looked up at him with so much more confusion than last night. What now? It's like secrets after secrets.

"Elise the truth is. You were brought to our kingdom 16 years ago. You were so weak and fragile and your mother kept asking our father to keep you and they did. They raised you as our own kind." the moment those words left his mouth I felt so betrayed and hurt yet I remained silent and waited for him to tell me everything.

"When you turned 13 mother and father invited Kingdoms all over our land. Stephan's kingdom was one of those who got invited and they sensed you. But mother refused to believe them and said that it wouldn't be possible as you were her daughter and she nor father is a..." he stopped finding the right words to say when Stephan continued.

"My mother and father sensed that you were one of our kind, you're a she-wolf" I suddenly stood up unable to process what he just said.

"You're crazy!" I laughed refusing to believe what they were saying. "Come on Lane!! you believe this stuff?" I said chuckling but my smile faded away as soon as I realized how serious they were.

"I?? wolf? what now? What else are you not telling me?!" I shouted at both of them.

"Elise I know it's hard to take but this is the truth and soon you cannot deny it as your wolf will surface and take over your body on your 18th birthday at full moon" what he said maid me stumbled "What I... I'm going to be some freaky monster now??" I asked "We are not monsters Elise!" said Stephan who seemed hurt by what I just said.

"Sorry, I just can't understand all these! I don't even know those things really existed what more to be one of them!" I said clouded with different emotions.

"I need to go, I just need some time" without looking back I left the room. I went to the garden in the mansion and looked around. It was peaceful and quiet no one is here except me and I can have a much needed time alone to think about all that happened for the past days and a while ago. So to get things straight. I am a wolf who was abandoned In front of a kingdom and got adopted and was raised like a princess but then I got mixed up with my adoptive parents history that is now also my responsibility to fix not to mention I was told that I would become a wolf on my birthday which is tomorrow!! That's a lot to process and I was hoping this was all just a dream.

"I was looking for you." I jolted at someone touching my shoulders, I looked up and saw Lane smiling weakly at me. "I just needed time to think" I replied then looked away at him staring back at the flowers. "I know I kept a lot of things and I left you to deal with my responsibilities. Now you're caught up with the family matters that weren't your real family to begin with. Don't get me wrong I see you as my sister and it would remain that way" He said hugging me from behind like he used to do when he comes home from his missions.

"Lane, what would happen to me?" I was curious, confused and afraid. "I believe Stephan would be able to help you with that." He stood up and offered to take my hands, I took his hands and we walked inside. "I'll go to my room for now and will talk to you again later, Lane." I said rushing upstairs. I suddenly felt like I needed a bath a cold one.

I was shocked to see Stephan sitting on my bed. "I was waiting for you" he said answering my unspoken thoughts. Seeing that I did not respond he gestured for me to come closer to him. "I'm here to talk about some things with you." he took my hands and assisted me so that I could sit beside him. "Another secret?" I asked which he chuckled at. "No, no more secrets. I know that you have a lot of questions about our kind and I just want you to know that I am here to help you." he capped my face and I relaxed at his touch it was the most comforting sensation I always feel when he's near me.

"Thank you Stephan, I really appreciate all your help and care towards me." I said smiling sweetly at him and he blushed. "You're my Princess anything for you of course!" he said but then I remembered something about wolves though I never thought they existed I was really fascinated with myths and stories about them. I know that when they turn eighteen they will be able to scent their mates those whose faith was intertwined with them and bonds that they cannot be broken bestowed by the Moon goddess.

"Stephan, do you really have a thing for me?" I asked him bluntly to which he reacted so surprised. "I... I do like you." he said avoiding my gaze as he blushed more and more. "But what about mates? We'll get one someday right?" he looked at me as if I was curious about how I know about the stuff "Come on I'm not dumbed I read all about wolves somewhere back in the kingdom before , I was always fascinated by the myths and never thought I was one." he took my hand and looked at me with his mesmerizing eyes that never failed to captivate me. "I was looking forward to tomorrow. I know your wolf will surface and I will stay close to you so that you can sense me as soon as possible and find out if we are destined. If we're not..." he paused and looked down so I touched his face and lifted up his chin "Hey, don't be so down. We'll find a way if it doesn't turn out the way we wanted." those words came out so suddenly and he pulled me into a hug.
