He had barely slammed the car door shut when Craig spoke. “You’ve got a lot of nerve, you know that?”
“Hey, sorry for dropping in like that. And for being out of touch recently.” Danny’s mood seemed to be softening. “But there’s been some heavy stuff going on. Since I haven’t had anything that you could help me with, I thought it’d be better if you and I kept a lower profile.”
“You’ve been keeping the same low profile with Emma?” Craig noted sourly.

“Why couldn’t you look after her yourself? You’re obviously back from wherever you were.”
