The next morning, I definitely felt the effects of two glasses of bourbon, but two big glasses of water and some coffee got me moving for the opening shift at the store. Given that the dogs had been tucked away at the house all evening with no company, they were eager to meet and greet on our walk in. Their motivations and mine were unfortunately mismatched since all I wanted to do was avoid everyone, but the pups were persistent. So I slapped on my best “good to see you but don’t talk to me grin” that I usually reserved for plane rides and let them greet everyone. By the time we reached the store, all three of us were tired, but unlike the dogs, I couldn’t just go curl up on a soft pillow and sleep the day away.
