Outside the Hole in the Wall, evening chill is setting in. Beau and I keep our heads down as we head for my car, trying to stay inconspicuous, but I don’t think it really matters. Everyone else is eagerly hurrying inside, ready to get their evening started. They’re not carrying around this awful weight.
I sneak a glance at Beau. His jaw is still set and there’s dangerous determination in his eyes. Honestly, I’ve seen the look before. Ellie gets it too—Parker and I called it her Take No Prisoners expression. Top athletes are just wired differently than the rest of us. They have more grit, more determination.
