CHAPTER 37 | Beau –––––––– Holly doesn’t come home that night. Makes sense, of course. I don’t know why I’m vaguely disappointed. She probably spent the night at the hospital. I’m annoyed though—no, not annoyed. Uneasy. I spend most of the small hours of the morning limping around and around my place, eventually ending up on the back deck so I can watch the sunrise. Twelve Oaks always looks especially perfect in the morning—pink light, shadows stretched under the trees—and usually it’s soothing as hell for me, but today it doesn’t work.
