The bass thumped beneath her heels, the lights flickering like flames caught in a trance. Elena laughed soft, unguarded the kind of laugh that didn’t belong in a place like this. Surrounded by coworkers and whiskey drinks, she was just another girl in a black tailored dress. But to him, she was the only thing that shined and existed. Andrew sat in the shadows, a crystal glass of whiskey in one hand, his cold stare locked onto her. He didn’t blink. Didn’t move. The music, the crowd, the heat of the club—they were all irrelevant. She was a spark of light in the chaos he ruled. And he wanted her , he needed her. He wasn’t supposed to be here tonight. But fate, or whatever cruel god played puppeteer to his life, had led him straight to her. And now that he’d seen her—really seen her—there was no going back. She smiled again, eyes lighting up as she spoke to her friends, unaware of the predator watching from across the room. Unaware that in one fleeting glance, her life had just changed. Andrew Romano never chased women. Until her. And he would stop at nothing to make her his. Even if it meant setting her world ablaze to do that.
