Empress consorts (Book two and three of Rebirth me.)

chapter 9: Truth

THREE YEARS AGO.

‘’big brother come let us eat.’’ A young girl of about fourteen ran towards an older male with a smile on her face, sxhe pulled his hand still smiling, ‘’come, the food might get cold, we need to eat while it is hot.’’ She giggled at the facial expression he was making, ‘’fine, stop pulling, I’m coming.’’

She let go of his hand and together they walked inside the dining hall, ‘’Ahh, Winston you are here, and Elizabeth too.’’ A middle-aged man smiled brightly upon seeing his son, ‘’come, come, let us all eat.’’ His smile grew wider when everybody had sat down, he glance around the dining table still smiling, ever since he had adopted Elizabeth at the age of five, as one of the members of the grand duke’s family, his family had been eating and doing things together unlike before.

Elizabeth frowned when she noticed Winton picking out the carrots in his food, ‘’Brother shouldn’t be picky with his food.’’ She started putting her own carrot inside his plate, ‘’Eat this, it is healthy.’’ She smirked and turned to her own plate.

‘’why don’t you eat it too? You are giving me all your carrots because you hate them, right?’’ Winston’s deep voice startled her. She turned towards him and pretended to be hurt, ‘’How could you? I was trying to keep you healthy.’’ Winston smirked, ‘’then let's share.’’

‘’No.’’ Elizabeth pulled her plate away.

‘’Take back your carrot.’’

‘’No.’’

The grand duke and dushess couldn’t help but smile at the two bickering children in front of them. The atmosphere inside the house had indeed changed because of Elizabeth.

The relationship between Elizabeth and Winston grew deeper and deeper until the day Elizabeth started avoiding Winston. It all started the day Elizabeth couldn’t sleep. She got out of her room to walk around the courtyard, she saw the almost naked Winston training in the middle of the night. She didn’t know why her heart started beating faster than usual. If it was in the past she could have walked up to him and made a disgusting face while teasing him, but right now all she could feel was her heart beat.

Without waiting any second, she ran towards the direction of her room and when she got inside she closed the door while breathing heavily. She didn’t know what that meant until the day she realized she was seeing Winston as a man and not as her big brother anymore.

TWO YEARS LATER.

The grand duke’s family received an envelope containing the Empress’s letter about her marriage proposal to the grand duke's family. Winston, who had already taken over his father’s position as a grand duke, smirked while reading the letter threatening him to marry the empress.

Elizabeth clenched her fist in anger, she turned to Winston, ‘’Brother won’t marry the empress, right?’’ Winston turned to Elizabeth and smiled. His little sister had already grown to a beautiful woman. He patted her head, ‘’We will see.’’

Although Winston had become the grand duke, he had never seen the empress. His father was the only one that had ever gone to the palace. The letter he got made him curious to see the woman that sent him the marriage proposal.

Upon reaching the palace after his breakfast, he bowed down when he got inside the throne room, when he raised up his head, he fell so deeply that when he got back home he couldn’t wait to wed the empress he had just met, which broke Elizabeth.

On the day of the wedding, Elizabeth confessed thinking that her brother would call off the marriage just for her, but he told her that she was delusional and still too young to know what love is. She locked herself inside her room while crying. The grand duke's household became quiet throughout that day.

Two days after the marriage, Elizabeth visited her brother inside the palace. She tried kissing him when they were alone, but she was caught by the empress and her cousin, lady Esther, who manipulated the empress into executing her. Although the first consort begged, the empress under her cousin’s manipulation couldn’t listen to her first consort.

Of course, she was hated by the first consort.

PRESENT DAY.

’f**k!’ Emma stood up and screamed inside her mind. She didn’t remember anything at all. She tried recalling why she killed the female lead but nothing seemed to come up. She glanced at the five people sitting in front of her in silence, ‘’Hahaha, doesn’t the weather look good today.’’ She tried changing the subject, ‘’Lame.’’ She muttered.

The first consort was sipping the tea in front of him without any hint of emotion on his face. Whether he was angry or not, Emma didn’t know, the look on the other consort’s face showed they knew what happened before Elizabeth was killed. Emma’s heart drooped, she felt sad for the female lead who she had never met before.

‘’I…. I’m sor…. I have to go.’’ Emma turned and ran without looking back. She rushed inside her room and closed the door, leaving the maids who were running after her outside. She had not been seeing Lilly lately, which was weird. She shook her head and took a deep breath.

“The female lead died? What is happening, it feels like the world is collapsing, a lot of things that didn’t happen in the novel are happening. Should I just kill myself? Mom, what should I do?’’ Emma squatted down, tears gradually fell from her eyes, ‘’I want to go home.’’ She sobbed.

Thirty minutes later, she looked at herself in the mirror and almost screamed. The woman in front of her looked hiddenous, she had pluffy eyes and her hair looked like a bird’s nest. She sighed and yawned, crying made her refreshed.

“Lilly!!’’ she yelled, not caring if her voice became hoarse or not. Almost immediately, Lilly opened the door of her room, ‘’Your imperial majesty?’’ Lilly slightly bowed, when she lifted up her head she flinched, the person standing in front of her looked a little bit…….

Her thoughts were suddenly cut off when Emma’s voice interrupted her, ‘’I know how I look right now, I need you to do things for me, get me a spoon, prepare my chamber and inform the first consort that I shall bed him tonight, prepare my bath now.’’

Lilly bowed and left the room without asking any questions. If one looked closely at her face, they would see a tiny smile that had formed on her face.

FIRST CONSORT CHAMBER.

‘’My lord.’’ Shadow appeared almost immediately. The first consort opened the door of his chamber after the empress had run away. Winston looked at Shadow, ‘’So?’’

‘’According to the temple, the holy maiden had disappeared.’’

‘’The holy maiden?’’

‘’Yes.’’

The holy maiden was the only girl in the whole wide world who had received god’s blessing. She was appointed as the holy maiden by the three kingdoms and she became the only girl that had stayed inside the holy temple. Her presence in the temple strengthened it, but if the holy maiden disappears then, the temple would face a lot of problems, especially the high priest.

‘’Help the temple, look for the holy maiden with them.’’ Winston commanded.

‘’I will do as my lord commanded, but no one has seen the holy maiden’s face, so it will be a bit difficult to find her.’’

‘’Go to the temple again, tell them we are willing to help in the search of the holy maiden, but on the condition that they will give you all the books on memory losses and possession.’’

‘’Can I ask my lord why he needs those kinds of books?’’

‘’the empress is behaving strangely, she doesn’t remember killing Elizabeth and she had been saving some foreign words which I had never heard before, just make sure they give you everything in possession and memory loss.’’

“Yes my lord.’’ Shadow bowed and disappeared.’’

Almost immediately Shadow disappeared, the news that the empress wanted to sleep with the first consort reached his ear. He sighed, ‘’What are you doing, Emma?’’

Emma’s bath took longer than she could have ever imagined. She was soaked in clean hot water for about five minutes. She was carried by female servants that looked like warriors and was put inside something that looked white. She accidentally tasted it, it tasted like milk to her. She was also carried and put back inside another hot water that had some red-looking flowers inside it, she had been going to and fro without stopping.

And when they finally decided to let her go, she was wrapped in a white gown which was transparent and was kept on her bed.

Emma almost drooled when she saw Winston opening her chamber’s door. He was clothed in white clothes that showed off his chest and stomach. She gulped and looked away. She was a virgin in her past life, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know anything about s*x. Winston, on the other hand, almost bled through his nose when he saw Emma sitting on her bed while dressed in nothing but a see-through white gown, like a seductress. The eyes she was looking at him with looked so sexy to him that he almost lost control of his desire.

‘’Ha haha you are here, come.’’ She stood up and dragged him towards her bed, ‘’Sit.’’ She smiled brightly at him and, without waiting for any second, she put one of the snacks prepared by the servants for them, inside his mouth.

Winston looked at her trembling hand and chuckled. He ate the snacks despite hating sweet things. When he was done, he licked his lips, which made Emma flinch while blushing. He bent down to kiss her, but Emma suddenly yelled, ‘’I am not the empress!’’

‘’What?’’

“I am not the empress.’’ Emma muttered, but enough for him to hear.

Emma looked at him and saw the confused look on his face. She sighed and stood up, ‘’Look, I died and found myself here as your empress who has already died.’’ She flinched, feeling chills on her back, her back was facing Winston, so she couldn’t see the murderous look on his face when she mentioned that the empress died.

She slowly turned and almost screamed, Winston's face was scary and he was pointing a sword at her. Where was he hiding that sword? ‘Yeah, let's do this, I already know I might be killed after this.’ She took a deep breath, ‘’This world is the world of the novel I read before I died, and when I opened my eyes, I found myself inside the body of the villain who died early, Empress Emma ………’’

‘’why should I believe you?’’

‘’If you don’t want to believe me, then forget it, I’m telling you all this because I want to go home. In the novel you were the male lead that married the female lead, but ever since I got here, things have been so f****d up and I have no way of going home anymore.’’

Emma sighed when Winston gave her the ‘I don’t believe you.’ Face, ‘’Fine, sit down and take that scary thing out of my face, I will start my story from the very beginning.’’

Esther was standing in front of a man smiling, she held out her hand and gave him a letter, ‘’Believe me, she wrote this for you, she had waited for your arrival.’’

The man smiled at her as he received the letter, he sniffed it and sighed, ‘’Heavens.’’ He put the letter in his chest pocket and smiled at Esther. He kissed Esther’s hand and turned and walked away without looking back.

The smile on Esther’s face disappeared, she started wiping her hand, ‘’why does he have to kiss my hand, that psychopathic love-struck man.’’ She sighed before giggling, ‘’Ahhh Emma, your happy day is finally going to come to an end, your nemesis is back.’’ She turned and walked away not looking back.
