Scarlett's eyes lingered on my face, her perfectly shaped eyebrows rising as she pretended to nod in understanding. The knowing look in her eyes made me uncomfortable.
"Evelyn, Scarlett, what are you two doing standing there? Alpha King Adrian Blackwood is already on the elevator, come here quickly!" Simon Grant called out to us from across the crowd, his voice pitched higher than usual with nervous energy.
