Chapter 2: New Beginnings

Mason gave me a big hug and dragged me past the front gates and through the front door.  When I got inside, my mouth hung open. It looked much bigger on the inside than it did on the outside and that's saying something. There were big windows, a chandelier above my head, and a beautiful seating area that looked too perfect to even sit.   It was a lot to take in. I closed my eyes, took a breath and opened them again. That's when I noticed that there were about 20 people looking at me other than Mason. They seemed to maids, chefs, and what looked to be security.  I wasn't sure what to do. Should I say hello? Before I could do anything, Mason introduced me. "Good afternoon everyone. This is the lady of the house..." He turned to look at me and whispered, "what is your name?" " Noelle." He turned back to face the others.  "Noelle Adair!" He giggled and jumped up and down. At least someone was excited about me being here. However, I was still wondering where Grayson was? Was he not going to come and greet me?  Everyone else dispersed and I was left standing with Auntie Laura and Mason. Someone took my bags somewhere and I didn't know where they had gone.  "Mason, go tell Felix that Noelle has arrived so he can tell Greyson," Auntie Laura said.  Mason nodded at her, gave me a big smile, and skipped away to find whoever Felix was.  "I will show you to your room dear," she said to me.  I followed her up the staircase to the second floor. She led me to the last door on the left and opened it. When I entered the room, I noticed that it was very plain. All it had was a bed and two doors that led to what I assumed to be a bathroom and closet.  "This is your room. We all want you to feel at home and said that you can decorate it any way you want. He has hired a decorator to help you. She should be here within an hour," she said and then shut the door on her wat out.  My stuff was already in the room. I was excited that I could decorate the room any way I wanted. I had kind of assumed that Grayson and I would be sharing a room because we were married but maybe it would be better this way.  I laid on my bed, lost in thought. Was there more to Grayson that the mean side I have already encountered even though I haven't actually met him. Will he accept me for who I am?  I could hear my wolf inside my head, trying to talk to me but I wasn't in the mood for her opinion. She was probably going to say something about we will never find our mate since I have been married off to some rich guy. The thought of that made me sad which was why I didn't want my wolf, Quinn, to talk to me about it.  A few moments later there was a knock on my door. I went to go open it and I was greeted by a female face. She quickly walked past me and scanned my room with her eyes. I waited for her to say something.  "Hello, my name is Macy and I am your personal designer. I design clothes, rooms, wedding cakes, you name it. I am here to decorate your room and I am so excited. First things first, what is your name?" "Noelle," I said shyly.  "What a lovely name. Maybe we can put a sign with your name on it above your bed. And what are your favorite colors?"  "Black. I am more on the goth side." "Ooh okay, I like it."  "Do you want to be super involved in the designing process or are you okay with me taking the reigns?" "I don't know much about style. I had to hire someone to design my bakery. I am totally fine with you taking the lead." "Sweet. Well, I already have some ideas in mind. I will get things tonight and everything will be brought in tomorrow morning."  She nodded at me and walked out without another word. Personal Stylist. Tomorrow Morning. Oof this was all too much. I just got here like an hour ago and I already have a personal stylist but I haven't met Grayson yet. My husband's score is 0/10 right now.  Because of all the emotions from today, I was starting to get tired. I laid down on the bed and fell asleep. I dreamed of when I turned for the first time.  It was on my 18th birthday and my family was gathered around me. We were all excited to see what my wolf looked like and I was excited to meet her. I remember the pain from shifting and I could hear my bones cracking. Fur sprouted as I grew.  Within minutes, I was fully turned and I felt better than ever. My senses were heightened and I felt strong. When I looked at my parents they had tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces. My mom held up a mirror for me so I could see myself. I was a pure white wolf with purple eyes. I was bigger than average but I have definitely seen bigger.  Then I hear her. My wolf.  "Hey, my name is Amber. I am your inner wolf." ~~~ I woke up to the feeling of someone shaking me.  "Noelle, wake up," I heard Auntie Laura say to me.  I opened my eyes and remembered where I was. It was now almost dark outside and I could feel the breeze coming in from an open window.  Auntie Laura went and closed it as I got out of bed.  "It's time for dinner so I laid an outfit for you to wear. I'll wait outside until you're ready." She walked out of my room and closed the door behind her. I noticed a dress hanging on the edge of the bed. I quickly changed into it and looked at myself in the bathroom mirror. It was a black dress that stopped just above my knee.  I opened the door and saw Auntie Laura waiting for me outside of the room. She guided me down the stair and through a series of different twists and turns until we entered the dining room. There was a huge table that could fit over twenty people. I noticed that only three places were set. I assumed they were for Grayson, Mason, and me.  "Greyson sits at the head of the table and you are to sit on his side. Mason will sit on the other side of him," Auntie Laura told me.  Just as I was about to sit down, Mason came prancing towards me, filling the room with giggles. Auntie Laura stepped away and left me with Mason. He danced around me and I started laughing. At least I would have him around to make me smile.  Auntie Laura came back into the room told us that we could sit down.  'Where is big brother," Mason asked.  "He has a lot to do tonight and won't be joining the two of you tonight," she said disappearing again.  I saw the tears forming in Mason's eyes. I got up from my seat and gathered him up in my arms. I sat down with him in my lap, letting him whimper into my shoulder. After a while he was quiet.  "Are you okay?" I asked him.  "Yeah, it's just that my brother hasn't been coming to dinner for the last few weeks. He said that he has been too busy, so I have been eating most of my meals alone. I hate being alone." "Well, I'm here now so you aren't alone anymore." He looked up at me and smiled. Then I could feel him squeeze me as hard as he possibly could, which wasn't very hard but it was touching nonetheless.  All of a sudden I could sense that we were being watched but when I looked around, no one was there. Maybe I was just imagining things but I was pretty sure that someone was watching us from the stairs.
