”Shane… Shane…” A rather familiar voice had said. “Huh? Where am I?” I said This place looks unusual. Where am I actually? What is this place? Whom was that calling out to me? I look around. I see nothing but darkness. It’s as if I’m floating over the void. I can walk, but this feels unreal, I don’t know where I am. The voice spoke once again. “Shane… you need to discover what your hidden talent is as soon as possible.” “H-Huh? Who are you? Where am I?” I said. “All you have to do is find out your hidden talent within you Shane. Something bad is about to happen.” “What is all this? How do I find out what my hidden talent is?” “You’ll figure that on your own, you need to be ready for there will be something tragic to happen.” “O-Okay, I’ll try my best...” “Well then, farewell Shane, and good luck on your journeys…” I slowly open my eyes, I blinked several times, my eyes felt heavy. As I finally open my eyes, I was confused of where I was. I look around the place, looks like a room filled with potions and potion-making ingredients, the sounds of the birds chirping in the broad sunlight shining through my body, the chemicals boiling, and people outside talking to one another. Oh, it was just a dream. I heard a creak coming from the left. The door opened and I saw Diana enter the room with a tray with a towel and a container of water. I look away quickly, but she noticed I was awake. She dropped the tray she was carrying. She rushed towards me. “Sha-Shane? Shane?! Are you a-awake? H-How do you feel?” She stammered with a worried look. “I seem a bit dizzy. Where am I? What happened?” I sit up and felt another wave of pain from the dizziness and Diana quickly grabbed my body. “Calm down Shane, don’t move too much. We’re at the doctor’s place, you’ve been unconscious for 3 days now.” “What? I was unconscious for 3 days? What happened to me?” “I don’t really kno-” Diana’s words were cut off when the door suddenly smashed the wall. “I know what happened.” The clerk yelled, and she was the one who smashed the door. She quickly approaches me “Shane? Are you alright now?” “I-I’m okay, but what happened to me?” “You were put into a spell by the Demon Lord Dazel three days ago, I didn’t know what kind of spell it was but Dazel clearly had plotted something if he were to put you unconscious.” “I noticed that her eyes glowed when she was flying away. But, what kind of demon lord is Dazel?” “She’s a real demon lord but she has the mind of a child. She is the youngest of the six dragons and possesses the power of different kinds of poison, and her unique skill, Dazzling. Dazzling creates a light around her blinding her enemies, but she saw potential in you, so she clearly cursed you. I don’t know but it seems she wanted to kill you, but she failed.” Diana was shocked of what she had said. “So how come Shane is still alive?” “I don’t know Diana, I don’t know.” Should I tell them about the weird dream I had? Maybe not. “Shane? Are you feeling alright?” The clerk asked me once again. “Y-Yes, but it’s like I still can’t move my body that much.” “Just rest here, okay Shane? Just rest until you regain your strength.” Diana said to me with a smile. “Seems like everything’s fine for now, gotta head back to the guildhouse. Take care you two.” The clerk waved us goodbye and left, leaving Diana and me alone. My head still hurts. I took a deep breath, and look around the place. Now that I think of it, I didn’t invest my time on doing research about this town, all I know is the inn and the guildhouse, that’s it. I should roam around more once I get better. “Shane?” Diana asked me out of the blue while I was spaced out looking at the sky out the window. “Shane? Shane?” She repeated what she said and that’s where I realized she has been calling out to me. I instantly turned my head towards her “Wh-What is it Diana?” “Why are you spacing out Shane?” “Oh sorry. I just have a lot of things in my mind.” “Oh, and by the way Shane, what was this demon lord like? I really didn’t get enough information, all of the adventurers including me were unconscious and the clerk just won’t tell me anything!” “She was a girl-” She cut me off, stood up and her head closed in at my face. So close… “A girl?! This demon lord was a girl?” “Uh yes, what’s so surprising about it?” “Um, you know. I thought demon lords were all males for some reason, that’s just my own understanding though.” She then sat down again. “I don’t really know much but she was the dragon that we were battling that day.” “She was the dragon? That beast was her?” “Yup, seems like it. She was bored, she said.” “Wait, wait. So this demon lord tried to destroy the town just because she was bored?” “Yeah… The clerk said she has the mind of a child, but she is clearly strong.” “Oh, that’s what the clerk said to me also. But what did she do to you? Why did you go unconscious for three days?” “I really don’t know what she did, all I can remember that her eyes glowed when she flew away.” “I don’t know what’s with her but for a demon lord, she must have killed you by now.” “That’s what I have been thinking too.” A mysterious sound filled the room. Diana got out a crystal from her pouch, the crystal was glowing and fidgeting. Diana pressed the top of the crystal and it displayed a hologram of the clerk? “Diana? It’s me. I know you’re taking take care of Shane but I need you for this urgent quest ASAP. Please proceed to the guild now.” The hologram of the clerk said. Well it is a world of magic, holograms are just little inventions in this world. “Sorry Shane, I guess she needs me again. I got to hurry but you take care of yourself? Don’t move from your bed either. Bye Shane!” She quickly exited the room and I saw her through the window running towards the guild. I guess I’m alone. I just look at the view from outside the window. Birds chirping at the tree tops, leaves in the trees rustling, townsfolk strolling and talking to each other. Ah so peaceful, but I know this isn’t this peaceful always, I’m in a parallel world where magic and mythical beasts are real, this is too peaceful to be true. I had nothing to do really but just lay down in this bed, my head still hurts and I can barely move. Suddenly I heard a swooshing tone from the left of me. I looked and I saw a small tornado of the color violet, with small star like particles coming from it. After a while it was Dazel! What is she doing here?! “You’re alive? You’re alive human?!” She yelled at my face, while looking so surprised. “I am alive, why? Did you really put a spell to make me unconscious?” “Fool, I putted a curse on you that you will die instantly!” She pouted and crossed her arms, what a child. “Huh? Why did you do that? I didn’t even do anything to you!” “The demon king ordered me to kill anyone that may pose a threat to his plans, that spell I cursed on you may have killed you instantly. But why are you alive?!” She was so mad she flipped the table and it nearly hit me. “That spell costed me ten years to use again!” “Wait, did you say ten years?” “Yes, the curse I casted on you Never Dazzle Again only works once every ten years! But here you are alive, I wanted to check on you if you were dead already.” “I really don’t know but I was conscious just this morning.” “Hmph! I’m gonna report this to the Demon King, and I don’t know what’s gonna happen to me because of you not dying!” She strafed backwards and spun like a tornado from earlier and then instantly vanished. So it was my fault I didn’t die? The clerk was right, she is a child, but the fact that she’s a child makes her stronger, I never know when she’s going to spill a temper tantrum. It’s back to being quiet. I guess I can go take a nap for the meantime…
