CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR Remi could barely contain her excitement as they passed over the threshold of the Chapel of the Tablet and into the dim interior. A thin old man in a pure white robe stood just inside. The air smelled heavily of incense. Sunlight shone through the door and the blue stained glass. Other than that, and a few candles, there was no illumination. The walls were decorated with frescoes just like the main church, but these looked older, their colors faded and smudged with the residue of smoke.
