“ Uncle you have asked my presence.” She said with concern through the openning of my Office door.. “I hope everything is ok. Any problems?” she asked .
“ Oh please come in Angie I almost forgot that I have summoned you. “ I smiled her.
“Everything is ok. We haven’t had any conversations lately and I missed you. And tomorrow is your 24th birthday love. Any plans ?” I asked her smiling.
“Uhmm.. Actually no uncle. You know I really don’t like my birthday. But Hope and Jacob instisted on a movie night with some drinks. We will watch Teen Wolf series, you know just for laugh.” She answered.
“Angie I am so glad you have them around you. They are such perfect friends.” I said.
I knew she always hated her birthday for her birthday reminded her, her mother’s death. She was feeling guilty about that. We had countnless conversations about Claire’s passing away but she never wanted to accept that it was not her fault. In someway I was also walking in her shoes. Losing my mate was something I could never get over with. So nothing said or done could change the way how we feel over these losses. I always respected her feelings but also I tried to reasure her. That was all I can do. On the other hand she was becoming 24 and she coulnd’t find her mate yet. Everthing would change when she found her other half. But she was also not searching for a mate. She never attended any mating gatherings. Neither ours nor other packs’. She was defining these gatherings as “Meat market.” Of course she could think of that way. One wolf can not understand what it is like to have a mate until they found. I never argued about this subject with her. As I said I always respected her choices. Well if Moon God bonded her with a mate sooner or later she would find him.
“I feel the same Uncle. They are more than friends actually. We are all so lucky to have eachother.” She said. I was lost in my thoughts.
“Uncle Jev, are you sure that everything is OK?” she asked and I woke up from my daydreaming.
“Oh dear so sorry. Did you asked something?” I told her with a little bit shame.
“Uncle now you make me really concerned. I am asking that is there a problem. You are so disconnected for a while. Whenever I have asked about this you always answer the same that you are getting older. Yes indeed the time passes by and weall are not getting any younger. So please tell me for real. What is bothering you that much?” she said seriously. Oh my god she really growed up.
“Ok,Ok.. Angie I am already 47 years old. And You know the law I have to pass my Alpha status to my heir at the age of 50. For I have no heir I need to find a potential future Alpha. This must be a divine joke as my Beta has only daugthers. I always wished that you had inherited your mom’s Alpha genes so there will be no problem. And our only candidate is Jacob, my gamma’s son, one of your besties. Both you and I know that he is not the perfect choice. I mean that boy has really good manners, he is kind, loving, strong but..”
“But we can’t transform him into an Alpha, not over billion years. May be a strong Beta but not an Alpha.” she interrupted and continiued my sentence.
“Uncle Jev. You know. Strange times need strange solutions. Moon God drew a path for every wolf and pack. You just have to admit that Jacob will be doing his best fort he pack. And I will tell a point that you missed.” She smiled with love.
“And this is?” I asked unwillingly.
“You have 3 loooong years to find another candidate it means 365 plus 3 days. We vcan never know what tomorrow brings.” She said using one of my own tutorials on me.
I stood up walked to her. I openned my arms to hug her and she answered my call.
“I love you my little cupcake.” I told her.
“I love you too uncle Jevyyy.” she said as she was giggling.
We were interrrupted by my Beta.
“Alpha you have a letter.”
“And Twain what is that shocking about me receving a letter?” I asked him with sarcasm.
“Alpha letter is from the Shine Pack’s Alpha.” He said quietly.
Well yes this was a little bit shocking. ,
I was avoiding this for 17 years for my oath to their Alpha. On that day we made an unbreakable oath with Martin. I was sure that their young Alpha never knew about that oath. I could easliy keep that hidden. But also I knew that I was not like this. For all these years it was eating me from inside. I always ignored this feeling but after Martin’s death I was sure of that day would come. I was responsible for the remains of Red Cape Pack. Not only for the oath also for my sister and Angie. Angie was a part of that pack. There was a soft snowy weather outside and when I saw a little pup playing in the snow with her hooded red cape I was sure that I was responsible of Shine.
I took the envelope and opened it.
“ To the venerable Alpha of Breeze Wind Pack Jev ,
I demand a meeting with you in your territory in two weeks. My visit will be only peaceful for I am coming with only my gamma.
With respect.
Alpha Ezekiel of Shine Pack.”
As soon as I read the letter I wrote the answer.
“You’re welcomed by me and my pack.” was the answer. I gave the letter to Twain and he was already on his way to the messenger of Shine who was outside border.
