A month after

“What about it?” he asked obliviously. Well, he wouldn’t understand because he’s a guy! “I should have been preparing for my debut now! Ugh!” I exclaimed in horror. Oh my god, I was supposed to be in the mansion talking to designers about my outfit and all those glamorous things! Ugh! “But it’s okay,” I tried to be enthusiastic. “I’m sure I will be off of this island before that!” But I could never be wrong. I don’t know how weeks started to come by so quickly, that one moment it was just a day and then the next, a month had passed already. I mean how? “What are you thinking?” Trevor was in front of me, washing his own clothes while I was washing mine. We’re in the fall and we’ve already talked about how, every other day, we’d wash our own clothes. “Nothing,” I answered, looking at my hands. They’re slowly begging to be reddish. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just not used to working that my hands are easily irritated, or I might be allergic to detergent bars. “I’ll wash the rest,” he took the remaining shirts in my hand and began washing them as I stared at him. Trevor has been so good to me. I mean not just good. So good to the point that I don’t consider him a stranger now. What boggles me most is the fact that I totally forgot how fast the time flew. I mean…. It's been almost a month and I’m still here, stuck on this island with Trevor. I mean, I don’t know if I had the right to complain, but what are my parents doing all this time? How could they let their only daughter be away from them this long? Don’t they miss me? Have they forgotten about me? Oh, that’s impossible! Maybe this island is just so remote that they haven’t reached it yet? Oh god! “What is it?” he suddenly asked, which made me look at him. “Nothing.” “You’re thinking about them again?” he asked. He already knows about what I’m thinking because, in the first weeks that I’m here, I always cry in my sleep because I miss my parents so much and he’s always been there to wake me up and calm me down. “Trevor.” “Hmm…?” “Thank you,” I smiled at him when he glanced at him. “Thank you for taking care of me,” I remembered how he carried me for weeks because of my injured ankle. Well, it’s not fully healed yet, but I can now walk on my own. I just don’t carry heavy things. “What are you up to? Why do you sound like that?” he exclaimed, raising his brow. “What?” I couldn’t help but raise my brow too, as I stopped myself from laughing. “I know you, Camille Louella.” “Really, Trevor Helios?” I can’t help but laugh now as he chuckles. Well, I’m still a brat but I’ve been kind to him for the past weeks! What is this tree talking about? “Yeah, what do you want?” “Nothing!” I insisted even when I’m laughing so loud already. “Just say it and stop making me shiver when you act kind,” he exclaimed as he continued washing our clothes. Well, his clothes, but I used them as well! “I am kind!” I exclaimed and I cringed because really? Camille Louella? Really? “Sure.” “Ugh!” I can’t help but splash water on him because he’s so annoying! “Camille stops!” he was covering his face as I continued splashing water on him. Serve him right! “I’m washing our clothes!” “Who the f**k cares?” I started running when he suddenly stood up and began coming after me. “Trevor Helios! I was just kidding!” I couldn’t help but giggle because he was closing the gap between us so quickly. “Don’t run! Your ankle!” “But you’re coming after me!” “Okay, I’ll stop,” he exclaimed, and he did stop, but I didn’t believe him at all. So, I stuck my tongue at him and began walking in the water faster. “Do you think you can fool me—agh!” I started giggling like crazy when I felt him wrapping his arm on my waist. “Trevor Helios let go of me!” I exclaimed as I pinched his arm. “Stop wriggling!” “Let go of me first!” “I know your tricks, Camille Louella, I said stop running. Your ankles are not even fully healed!” he exclaimed as he put me down one of the big rocks near the spot where we wash our clothes. “Can we eat meat for lunch please?” I displayed my pouty face, and I even joined my hands together like I’m praying just to convince him more. “Fine,” he answered. Well, I remembered how he doesn’t need to be more convinced when it comes to food. I don’t know, he’s just generous and all. I’ve never even starved on this island, and I’ve eaten such delicious foods at the hands of Trevor Helios. I just wanted to look, I guess, at that pouting thing. “So that’s what you want,” he exclaimed. “What?” “Meat.” “So?” “You were acting weird a while ago. I knew you wanted to ask me something.” “I’ll help you with that so we can finally eat,” I was about to grab some of the clothes he was washing but he pushed my hand. “It’s okay,” I’ll just do it fast. “Okay. I’ll take a bath now then,” I exclaimed, grabbing the zip lock bag near me. “Careful.” “Yes, sir!” I exclaimed, giving him a salute as a joke. I left him near the rocks while I swam towards the falls. I guess this trumps the river. Yeah, for sure. This has an edge because of the falls. Except for the fact that it’s farther. “Aren't you done yet?!” I shouted over the loud sound created by the falling waters. I’ve been enjoying the water so much that I didn’t notice how much time I’ve already spent here taking a bath. “Almost done!” he shouted back. I like how we’re more comfortable with each other now that we can even shout at each other already. I remember the first time I was there and I think of him as a stranger. I even remember thinking of not talking to him and all that s**t I was never able to do! And the crazy things…. Oh s**t, I remember all the embarrassing things I did in front of him! How can Camille Louella Herrera Montellano be this careless? Such a shame! And no, the butt touching accident is just nothing compared to other stupidities I’ve done. The bathroom…. The toilet… the clogged toilet—oh s**t! Let’s forget about that ugly and disgusting memory, shall we? Do we forget about the panties story too? I heard my subconscious snide and I couldn't help but give myself a slap! Ugh! “You done?” I asked him for the nth time. I had already finished bathing but he hadn’t finished washing the clothes yet, so I decided to come back and help him. “Yeah,” he answered as he carried the big basket without clothes in it. “So we just dry them now?” “Yeah,” he answered as he walked towards the bigger rocks just farther down the falls. “I can do it!” I cheerfully said. “You sure?” he said without mocking. Well, I know that he’s not mocking me because I'd hear it from his tone if he really was! And he’s not! Well, it’s been a month and, believe me or not, I’ve learned so many things from him already. We literally did a survival 101 class for the past weeks and I’m still learning up to this day! “Yeah, you can take your bath so we can finally go home,” I excitedly exclaimed. “You’re that hungry, huh?” he said while smirking. I stuck my tongue out at him as I walked first. He carried the basket up to the rocks and laid it down on one of the rocks. “Are you sure you can do this alone?” “Yeah! I’m sure! Besides, you can see me from there, so if I ever mess up, just come and help, okay?” “Fine.”
