83 As I went to get her clothes, I realized one thing. I was wrong for not telling her. I underestimated her capacity to understand everything, and I should really give myself a kick for that. She’s not a very simple woman, Trevor. She’s obviously tough because she keeps up with me in this secluded forest for many weeks. But did my fear disappear by convincing myself that she’s strong? Definitely not. It still felt like my heart is being crushed just by thinking that she’d be in danger. And it feels like I’m being plunged to death as I imagine that I won’t be able to do anything. I gave her my clothes. Our clothes. She was quiet and I fear that she’d just suddenly run away. If that’s the reason why I went out to man the door, that I’m not sure.
