Present day Two years and nine months later........ "Momma?" "Hmm?" "Ice-qweem for breakfast pwetty pweese?" Ava put on her best voice to sweet voice while batting her eyelashes at me. "Nice try Ava. Maybe if you're a good girl, then I might consider giving you ice-cream later tonight." I handed her and Aiden their breakfast, which consisted of sunny upside eggs, toasts, franks, sliced fruits and apple juice. "I told yah momma gonna say no be'case I'm the sweet one and momma will not say no to meee." Aiden teased, biting into his toasts to which Ava showed him her tongue. "How about I s***k the both of you?" I teased, pinching both their chubby cheeks, to which they both gasped and shook their heads. "Good, now eat up." I told my two babies before heading towards the door after hearing it ring. I immediately opened it as Mavis pushed through the door, "Where's my two handsomely dashing angels!" She excitedly screamed at them, and I rolled my eyes, closing the door shut. "Aunty May!" They both giggled happily. "Good morning to you too." I murmured to myself. "Shut it Faith!" Mavis shushed, making me roll my eyes once again. "Guess what aunty may bring for both of you?" They both ran to her happily with glistening eyes, very excited. "Mavis, I told you not to..." I was rudely cut off by her again. "Aunty bought you chocolate popsicles!" I sighed in exhaustion as she gave them without my consent. And stopping her would be futile as Mavis would literally go into a fist fight with me just to have the kids eat whatever they wanted. "Thank you, Aunty May!" They screamed in excitement before running past their breakfast and off into their room to eat their popsicle. Clearly, they knew I'd try and take it away, so they ran, knowing that Mavis would hold me off. They were sure to get two spankings later on. "Oh Faith, hurry up. The kids occasionally receive sweet food to eat. It's not like you have the money to purchase them anything besides what they need. It won't hurt them if you give them a popsicle now and then." She comforted me with her gorgeous brown eyes. I sighed before sitting down on the sofa, "I know it's just that I can't help but be possessive and protective of them and I don't want you to think that you're obligated to buy them anything." "I'm their godmother Faith. I'm allowed to buy my godchildren things too. A godmother's role is looking after their godchildren and, plus, you might not be financially stable now, but at least you're still able to look after them. You've got me." I smiled almost on the verge of tears. Mavis Williams was my only best friend. After leaving America, I ran away to New Zealand to seek a better life. I met her while I was still pregnant and living in an apartment nearby. She was also my co-worker. She helped during that time. I was very grateful to her. She was a blessing in disguise. Whenever she would ask about the kids' father, I'd tell her he had run away after finding out that I was pregnant. Thankfully, she did not push the matter any further. I knew I couldn't tell anyone about my situation. I knew Mavis would go to the police or try to contact Dante. This could not happen. I could not put my babies in danger as a target for anyone, plus Dante had clearly moved on. For the past two years, I have heard little news of Dante. He had now acquired a few businesses and was now dating even though there was no confirmation of this and that it was business as usual for him and that we had secretly separated. Sometimes it hurt my heart knowing that he didn't even bother to search for me, but I needed to move on for my kids. "Have you heard?" Mavis asked, drawing me out of my thoughts. "Heard what?" "Oh my gosh Faith, how can you have not heard of such massive news?!" Mavis shrieked with wide eyes at me. "What is it?" Mavis was always the one to know all the juicy gossip there was. "Mr. Bloomfield has sold Dailyplus!" Mavis said making me gasp. "What?! Why didn't you tell me this before?! What is going to happen to us? And why did he sell the company?!" I shrieked. "We all know Dailyplus was on a path to collapse financially into bankruptcy. His son, Bloomfield Junior, was so pissed because his father didn't pass down the company onto him. I was told we'll still have our jobs and the company was sold to an American company called Harrison Ford Brokers...." My eyes widened hearing the name of the company. "What did you say the name of the company was?" I murmured softly, hoping Mavis had mentioned the wrong name. "Harrison Ford Brokers is a massive, multibillion-dollar American corporation. We'll soon be receiving better income, according to rumors I've heard about this new corporation investing heavily in Dailyplus. Dante, the CEO of the business, is very hot; you should see him," Mavis said enthusedly. "This cannot be happening."
