"Once again, I apologize for accidentally hitting your car.."
Darius bowed his body towards Clena and Lorea. The corners of his eyes are a little watery with a very sad facial expression
"If you want compensation for the damage to your car, I promise to pay it. But let me pay it slowly.”
Darius ended his speech with a long sigh, as if to hint at how heavy the weight he was carrying on his shoulders.
Lorea's eyes, which had been staring at Darius for a long time, now started to tear up. It seemed that she also felt the sadness that Darius was experiencing. While Clena just stood with her arms crossed in front of her chest. Her face was very flat, in contrast to Lorea sad face.
"Ah, how pathetic..."
Lorea wiped the corners of her eyes that were also watering after hearing Darius' story. She patted Darius on the shoulder many times to cheer him up
"It's so sad.. so sad.. at a young age like this, you actually have to bear the consequences of your parents' actions.."
Darius' head continued to bow deeply. Telling sad stories is not difficult for him. Easily the story that the grim reaper had orchestrated escaped his lips. The story begins with an introduction to the life of little Darius who must see his mother's suffering, being bullied by his friends and often starving. The story continues to flow with the dramatic spice that Darius adds, so it's only natural that someone will be touched upon hearing his life story.
But..
Darius secretly stole glances at Clena to investigate her expression. Urrgh, and that woman still looks cold, so cold… it made Darius remember her nickname as the 'Living Corpse'
Cold sweat started trickling down Darius' forehead. Even though he hoped that Clena would be the one who would be moved and felt touched. He needed this emotional atmosphere to lead their conversation to mention Darius' identity as Clena's distant cousin.
"Be patient, believe in the scenario I've created."
The sound of the grim reaper still hovering above them rang in Darius' ears. The Grim reaper was gazing casually at the three people below him while enjoying the banana milk in his hands.
“Be patient your ass! Even an elementary school kid would admit how bad your idea is!”
Darius grumbled in his heart.
Even though Darius' acting is very natural, he still looks quite suspicious.
"Urgh.."
Darius flinched slightly as Lorea's pat on his shoulder that was originally very gentle suddenly turned strong. Even now Lorea is gripping his shoulders so hard that Darius is wincing.
"This damn brat!! Do you think I'm a kindergartner that you can fool with your 'pathetic' stories huh?"
Lorea's face, which looked very sad before, turned sour. She stared intently at Darius. She had to admit that Darius' expression and the way he telling his story almost made Lorea believe him. But, of course Lorea couldn't be fooled so easily! She was sure Darius must have some purpose.
As a secretary to the CEO of a very large cosmetics company, it wasn't once or twice that she faced the likes of Darius. So she was already very used to sad stories like this.
Moreover, Lorea had to protect someone who was so innocent..
"Hufft.."
Lorea grumbled when she saw Clena suddenly stepped forward, holding Lorea's hand to stop her from gripping Darius' shoulder with such force.
"Stop it Lor, don't be so hard on him. It seems what he said is the truth.”
Clena said, looking at Darius who immediately raised his head in surprise. Even his mouth gaped wide as Clena continued her words
"He must have had a really tough day. There's no way he accidentally hit my car. I'm sure he must be really desperate to avoid those debt collectors..."
Lorea sighed heavily, touching her head in frustration. As she expected, Clena would definitely believe what Darius said. This was the reason why Lorea was never easily fooled by others. There was someone she had to take care of, and that person was Clena.
She doesn't know how many times Clena has been fooled by people who 'sell' their sadness. Like an incident a while ago when an old woman selling woven cloth. She claimed that she weave the cloth to feed her grandchildren in the village. Clena even bought up all the woven cloth that old woman sold at high prices. However, after Lorea ordered someone to investigate the old woman's identity after finding out that the cloth she was selling was a cloth commonly found in the market, they eventually found out that the old woman was actually a fairly wealthy merchant and often deceived others to get money.
"Wow! I can't believe you'd be touched by the ridiculous stories he tells!”
Lorea protests. But of course Clena ignored her.
Darius raised his head, looked at the grim reaper who folded his arms with a proud face and said
“See, right? Did I tell you that my plan was perfect?”
Well, this time it looks like Darius has to admit that the grim reaper's plan is pretty good. Even though Darius was already very pessimistic because of Clena's super flat expression. Even now she is patting Darius on the shoulder, her expression was still very flat. Only the look in her eyes changed slightly.
“Cheer up! I've also been through difficult times like you."
Clena said, encouraging Darius which made the man immediately cheer up in his heart. Not wanting to waste this opportunity, Darius immediately continue his mission.
He put on a sad face again with drooping shoulders, then nodded his head slowly
"Thank you Miss. I promise to pay for everything as soon as possible.”
“Pay it? Are you sure? You will have to pay a lot for the compensation.”
Lorea said sarcastically.
"It's okay miss, I'll be back to my part-time work soon. I will ask the doctor's permission to go home right now."
Darius hastily stood up, although before he could stand up properly, his body immediately wobbled to the side because of his fractured leg. Fortunately, Clena quickly restrained Darius bodies before he actually fell to the floor.
"Are you okay?"
Clena asked Darius who was in her arms. The Grim Reaper even almost spit out the milk in his mouth when he saw the soap opera-like scene that was happening below him. But, if usually in soap operas it is the men who support the women's bodies, then what is happening now is the opposite.
"Urgh, disgusting..."
The Grim reaper even grimaced when he saw Darius shyly trying to escape from Clena's embrace while saying with a red face
"I'm fine miss, I can stand on my own"
"No, you can't. Stop moving and sit quietly on your bed.”
Clena said with furrowed brows, making her face look like someone who was very angry.
"But.. I.. I have to pay.."
"No need,"
Clena cut Darius' words quickly
"You don't have to think about paying for my car. Rest and focus on your healing.”
She then supported Darius' body forcibly and sat him back down on the bed.
"Stay here until you recover"
After saying those words, Clena then turned around and walked out, leaving Darius' ward.
Lorea didn't immediately follow Clena. Instead she stood with her hands in her pants pockets, staring at Darius with an unfriendly look
“You may be able to lie to her, but not me! Just see, if you have bad intentions towards Clena, I make sure you will meet the Grim Reaper as soon as possible”
She threatened, then went out leaving Darius who could only stare at Lorea's departure while grimacing. Hmm, meet the grim reaper soon? Haha, Darius smiled wryly as he tilted his head upwards. He had even met that annoying creature every day..

Clena spun the pen she had been holding. Her eyes fell on a document lying neatly on her desk.
Earlier, after the meeting with the shareholders, Lorea gave this document to her. A document containing the results of an investigation into Darius' identity that Lorea's men could collect in no time. Hem, sometimes Clena had to admit, Lorea's ability on this was enough to make her shiver in horror and at the same time grateful that Lorea was by her side.
Clena took a deep breath before finally getting up from her seat. Walked to the window and looked down at the street. Her mind was suddenly filled with many things. And all of those things, are closely related to Darius.
'Darius Sanders, 20 years old. Second year K University student. Work part time in five places to make living and pay his tuition fees.
When reading the beginning of Darius identity, Clena was still acting as usual. Although she was saddened to learn that Darius worked part time in five places at once. The thing that bothers Clena's mind as it is now is when she reads about the identity of Darius' parents, Xavier Sanders and Martha Sanders..
Suddenly a memory flashed in Clena's eyes
"Huh? Girl? What is the importance of getting a higher education? After all, you will marry and leave your family. Uncle thinks it's very natural that your mother is more concerned with your two older brothers."
Clena's brows furrowed as she recalled the expression on the face of the man who said those words. The man named Xavier Sanders. The man who is her uncle and turns out to be Darius's father too...
