The arrows bounced off their leathery skin, some causing a little damage, while the bolts of the ballistae managed to penetrate, though the ballistae took time to reload. When they began to force their way toward the fort, one of them encountered a trap prepared by the defenders; the trap’s pointed poles stabbed the bottom of one of its feet. It fell to the ground and screamed in pain, and as it tried to pull out the spikes, a bolt pierced its throat, killing it.
