9 Black and Blood The ground pulsed higher and higher until a seething mass of shining black exploded from the dirt. The creatures stood, stretching their horrible limbs. They looked like men. Or what had been men. Now their arms hung past their knees, and their fingers disappeared into sharp talons. Black glistening armor had taken the place of their skin.
