“How exactly is this supposed to work,” Emilia whispered to Maggie as she dabbed Claire’s lips with sweet smelling goo. “Mrs. Dellard won’t even let me see Jacob. If he can’t get in here during the day, how am I supposed to meet him in the middle of the night?”
“I don’t think I’ve ever fully appreciated the advantages of being raised in the Academy,” Maggie sighed. “This place is run like a prison―there’s a rule for everything. But the best thing about rules is finding a way to break them. Do you really think they’d be able to lock this many teenage boys and girls in a building and ban us from speaking to each other and not have us find a way around that?”
