The air at the Blue Moon Pack was unusually still that morning, charged with a quiet sense of anticipation. Inside the Alpha’s estate, Alpha Rogan stood tall in the command room, his arms folded across his chest as he addressed his sons.
“You’ve both trained hard,” he said, his deep voice echoing against the stone walls. “You’ve proven your strength. It’s time you both take the next step.”
Damon and Ethan exchanged a glance.
“You’re going to New Zealand,” Rogan continued. “The Alpha’s Academy. A place where only the strongest and most elite heirs of the shifter packs train. You’ll be shaped into the leaders this pack will one day follow.”
Luna Alyssa smiled softly, proud and anxious. “You’ll leave at the end of the week.”
Damon nodded slowly, a strange tightness in his chest. “Yes, Father.”
Ethan’s lips twitched upward. “We’re ready.”
Or so he thought.

At Blue Moon High, word spread like wildfire.
Ashton plopped down beside Anya during lunch, dropping his tray with unnecessary drama. “You hear the news?”
Lucy leaned in, eyes wide. “The twins are leaving. Alpha Academy. New Zealand. Can you believe it?”
Anya blinked. “When?”
“This week,” Ashton replied, shoving a grape in his mouth. “I thought they were gods here. Now they’re off to be trained as… bigger gods, I guess.”
“The girls are acting like the world is ending,” Lucy said with a laugh, glancing toward the table of popular girls nearby—some of them were teary-eyed.
Anya’s lips lifted slightly, though her eyes didn’t shine. “I hope they enjoy it there.”
Ashton raised a brow. “You’re not sad?”
She shook her head. “It doesn’t affect me.”
She didn’t admit it aloud, but the truth was simpler: their absence would bring her peace. No unexpected chores. No cruel smirks. No harsh orders disguised as casual commands.
Maybe she’d finally breathe a little easier.

Damon’s POV
He stood by the edge of the school courtyard, half-hidden in the shadow of the old library building. The late sun warmed the cobblestone, casting long golden beams through the trees.
His eyes found her, like they always did.
Anya.
She was sitting under the same oak tree, her hair braided neatly, her nose in a book. Ashton and Lucy flanked her, chatting away. She wasn’t laughing, but she was listening.
He watched the way she tilted her head. The way her eyes softened when she was focused. The way she never tried to be noticed.
Damon clenched his jaw. The others called her an omega like it was a curse. But there was something about her… something that always pulled at the edges of his control.
He turned away before she could see him staring. Becoming Alpha meant sacrifice. And if part of that meant being far from her… then so be it.
But it still stung.

Ethan’s POV
Ethan stood in the training room that evening, wrapping his hands in silence. He wasn’t sentimental. He didn’t dwell on farewells.
But he knew his brother was distracted. And he knew exactly why.
He glanced at the window—the one that overlooked the village path Anya always walked after school.
Ethan exhaled sharply and pulled out his phone.
He messaged Beta Lennox. “Set a silent order. No pack member is to approach or court Anya while we’re away. No exceptions. If anyone disrespects her, I’ll know.”
Then another message.
“Daily updates. If she’s injured, if she skips school, if anyone messes with her—I want to know.”
He didn’t explain why. He didn’t have to.
Anya would never hear of the command.
To her, they’d just be gone.
But to Ethan, leaving didn’t mean letting go.

As the sun dipped behind the Blue Moon cliffs, the pack prepared for a temporary goodbye.
And Anya?
She walked home in the quiet, sensing a shift in the wind—but unaware of the storm still circling her name.
