The morning sun bore down on the training field, its golden light painting the warriors in sweat and dust. Damon’s muscles screamed, his breath ragged as he circled his opponent—Bren, one of the Blue Moon Pack’s elite warriors. Ethan stood at the edge of the circle, eyes locked on the fight.
They had to prove themselves. Not just as sons of Alpha Rogan, but as wolves worthy of the title “Alpha.” No special treatment. No excuses.
Damon launched himself forward again, claws barely out as he tried to land a blow. Bren blocked it with ease and twisted, landing a punishing hit to Damon’s ribs.
A crack. A dull thud.
Then silence.
“Damon!” Ethan’s voice rang through the field as his twin hit the ground hard, unmoving.
Pack warriors rushed forward. Ethan followed, his gut clenched.
“Get him to the infirmary. Now!” came the order from Beta Lennox.

Anya had just finished sorting herbs and labeling medicinal jars when the door to the infirmary burst open.
“Damon Blackwood. Cracked ribs, possible internal bleeding,” one of the warriors barked.
Anya turned, heart catching in her throat as she saw the blood on his side.
She didn’t hesitate.
“Get him to bed three,” the senior healer, Doctor Mira, commanded. “Anya, you’re with me.”
Anya quickly grabbed gloves, towels, and salve. Her movements were steady, precise, far beyond her ten years. Mira noticed—but she didn’t question it. Anya had been helping them since she could walk.
When the bleeding slowed and the bones were set, Doctor Mira glanced at the growing crowd. “Alpha Rogan, Luna Alyssa—we’ve stabilized him. But I need to check on the other warriors from training. Anya, stay with him. Give him the pain tincture when he wakes. Monitor his pulse.”
Alpha Rogan gave a silent nod of approval.
Anya sat by Damon’s bedside, carefully wiping sweat from his brow. He looked different when he was unconscious. Softer. Younger.
He stirred, groaning low in his throat.
When his eyes finally opened, the first thing he saw was light… then the blurry outline of faces.
The pack doctor. His father. His mother. Ethan… and—
Anya?
“What happened?” Damon croaked.
“You collapsed during training,” Luna Alyssa said gently, brushing his hair back.
“You’ll be alright,” Alpha Rogan added.
Doctor Mira approached. “You’ve healed faster than expected. And it’s thanks to Anya. She stayed calm, cleaned the wound, stabilized your rib, and administered the medicine. She’s earned my trust more than most apprentices twice her age.”
Luna Alyssa turned to Anya, her expression full of warmth. “Thank you, dear. For taking care of my son.”
Anya blinked, startled by the gratitude. “I… I was just helping.”
Before she could slip out, Ethan followed her to the hallway.
He hesitated, then muttered, “Thanks. For Damon.”
Anya simply nodded. “It’s my duty.”
Then she turned and walked away, her quiet dignity trailing behind her like moonlight.

That evening, back at the cottage, Alex was waiting with their usual sparring gear. Anya changed and joined him outside the clearing, her eyes brighter than usual.
They began their training—fast, fluid, silent. But something was different tonight.
Alex struggled to land his hits.
He was the one on defense now.
“Again,” he called.
She moved like wind—unpredictable, controlled, powerful.
He was panting, shocked.
He dropped his guard for one second, and Anya landed him on the ground with a clean shoulder throw.
He looked up at her, stunned. “Anya… you’ve grown strong.”
Anya offered him a hand and smiled. “I just don’t want to be helpless.”
Alex took her hand, pride swelling in his chest. “You won’t be. Not ever.”
