Spring sunshine warmed Emily’s skin as she sat out on the balcony for the first time this year, her cell phone wedged between shoulder and chin, chatting with Amy. It was a bright, beautiful day, made brighter by the sight of the first crocuses of spring blooming in the lawn below her.
