She’s been through so much in one night. I can’t imagine what would have happened if we weren’t in the area at the time.
“Sir, you need to calm down.”
Robert’s words snatched me out of my thoughts.
I didn’t realize I was tapping my foot continuously in sheer panic.
I tried to calm myself as I looked up at Rob.
“Let’s be thankful that we found her at the perfect time.”
He said, placing his right hand on my left shoulder.
I’ve known Rob practically all my life.
He was assigned to me when I had just begun preschool.
He was much younger then, and we’ve pretty much grown together since.
My parents weren’t always home, so Rob and Mrs. Violet have always been there for me.
“She’ll need some new clothes. I had the maid look through her bags, and most of her clothes were either soiled, worn-out, or torn,” Mrs. Violet said.
“I think it’ll be best to get her consent first, Vi.”
“It’s just clothes, Rob. We’re not asking her to change her government name.”
“I mean… that’s usually how it begins,” Rob replied.
“You…” She shot him a sharp look, and we all laughed.
“I have to go with Rob on this one, Mrs. V.
We do need to get her consent and possibly go shopping with her. It is she who will be wearing the clothes, after all.”
I said.
“Exactly!” Rob affirmed.
While I was thankful for the small talk to distract me, I couldn’t shake off the fear of what could have happened if we had delayed even for a minute or if we hadn’t shown up at all.
“No need to think so much now, dear. She’s safe now.”
I didn’t know I had zoned out until I felt Mrs. V’s hand on my shoulder.
She always knew the right things to say. Almost like she could hear your thoughts.
Her coffee-brown eyes told no lies.
You could always see the emotion in them.
“Thank you, V,” I teased. I only call her that to make her smile.
“It’s almost time for the shoot with West & Worth. That should help get your mind off things.”
“I totally forgot about that.”
I replied to Rob before walking away from the fountain and into the house.

When I woke up this time, it was darker.
I was really knocked out. I don’t usually sleep longer than four hours, and compared to how bright it was earlier, it’s either been four long hours or much more than that.
My head didn’t hurt as much anymore, so I decided to take a tour of the room, and wow! I didn’t know it was a thing to have rooms this big.
From the chandelier hanging in the middle of the high ceiling, to the lush velvet drapes, to the plush fur rug that stretched across the floor.
You could easily tell no expense was spared in designing the room.
Thankfully, I picked my jaw off the ground before a young woman knocked and came in.
“You’re awake, miss.”
Miss? Me? Wonderful.
“Miss?”
“Sorry, I woke up not too long ago.”
“Ahh. Are you feeling better? Should I prepare your bath?”
“What? No, I can do that myself,” I said, trying to rush to her.
“I’m sure I can do that myself… Miss.”
I can’t let them think I’m some kind of spoilt brat or proud girl.
She chuckled lightly.
“Okay, if you insist. At least let me show you how the shower and tub work.”
She said as she motioned towards the bathroom.
I thought the room was big until I saw the bathroom.
Wow!
“There are clean PJs here for when you shower at night… your dirty clothes go in here…” She said, pointing at a laundry basket.
“For hot water, the knob goes in and to the left, and for cold water, in and towards the right.”
“We couldn’t figure out what shower gel to get for you, so Mrs. V picked this lavender one. Do you like it? Is there a specific one you use? I can ask them to get it for you.”
“No, this is fine. Thank you, Miss.”
“Alright. That should be everything for now. The tub is temperature-controlled, so you just press this to fill it, and set your preferred temperature from here.”
I stood watching like I was just offered a job in a luxury hotel.
“And if you need anything else…”
“I’ll ask someone. Thank you. Miss?”
“Rosemary. You can call me Rosemary.”
She said as she turned to walk away.

Today’s shoot lasted just three hours, and now we’re on the way home.
Amidst the panic and worry, I’m even more concerned about how she got into that situation in the first place. I need to talk to her and ask.
“Rob, do you think you could go a bit faster?”
I hope she’s still up by the time we arrive.
