To say that dinner was a disaster was an understatement. Kevin arrived first and had been waiting for us. His back was to the entrance, so he didn’t see the four of us coming towards him. I put my hand on his shoulder to let him know we were there. He promptly got up and turned to kiss me, but stopped short when he saw Angel with Peter. His face basically lost all color, like someone who had just seen a ghost. I knew that look. It was the look of seeing someone you didn’t want to see.
